Fun Norwegian Cookie Iron
This Krumkake Cookie iron is perfect for me as I will probably only make these cookies a couple of times a year, at Christmas as a traditional cookie and possibly in July for little cones paired with homemade ice cream when the grandkids come for dinner. My daughter and I made these together last night, and found, as other krumkake makers say, that the work goes smoother with two sets of hands. That is especially so for this electric iron which makes two cookies at once. When I set the dough on both plates and closed the lid my daughter would start the timer. After I carefully removed the cookies with a silicon spatula to two small wire cooling racks, she would wrap them around the two cones (which I purchased separately) and set them aside to cool. The cookies would harden quickly as they cooled, just before time to remove the next set of cookies. My daughter would move them to larger wire cooling racks while I removed the next two cookies and we'd start the process over. My favorite thing about the electric iron is we were able to sit down at our working space the whole time. The old fashioned stove top Krumkake baker entails standing at the stove during the whole process, and includes the need to turn the baker over halfway through. I no longer have the stamina to stand that long as we made a double batch, and will do again. According to videos I have watched and other reviews read I learned that most people prefer the way the cookies turn out better with the traditional stove top version. So if you have plenty of stamina that might be the better option for you. We did use the recipe included in the book for Krumkake by Cucina Pro with cardamom and vanilla. You can see in the photos provided we were experimenting with timing and the amount of dough. We have a ways to go before we perfect it, but we did find that if the cookies are just the size or a little smaller than the printed pattern, they were easier to shape into tighter cones. Also, I struggled getting the same amount of dough each time and have a few ideas to try making the amount more consistent next time. We found the less batter used , the thinner the cookie turned out, and the less time needed to reach golden brown. Some of the darker ones you see really surprised us as they cooked the same amount of time as the rest. All in all, being a novice at Krumkake, I am not dissuaded and look forward to perfecting the process. I am very pleased with this purchase and I know we will make these cookies again.

Love using my cucinaPro krumkake!

It's ok, but I can see why people prefer the units that go over the stove.
This is ok, but it doesn't seem to heat evenly. Some places start to brown too much before the rest is finished baking.

Works great for what I need.

So much easier than a manual iron
It took a little while to get the process down where they wouldn't be undercooked or overcooked. And you really need two people if you want to knock them out quickly. Having a double iron helps make them fast, but because you have to roll them it seems like one would get overcooked while I was rolling the first one. But once I got help I would scoop them out and we'd each roll one and the process was so much faster. I really wish there would have been instructions, like telling me if I needed to prep the iron before using etc. But this is so much easier than using the manual iron that I was raised on, cooking over the stove! It cleans super easily and the Krumkaker turned out exactly how I recall for my childhood.

ONE purpose Electrical Appliance
This item was designed to do ONE specific purpose and do it well. It is NOT a "multipurpose" kitchen appliance. It is like a waffle iron. It makes small highly decorated Krumkake. Think of something that tastes like a fortune cookie but looks like a paper thin waffle. So, if you absolutely positively must make Krumkake on a regular basis - then this is the item for you. Side note: Buy a NEW one. I tried to be frugal and save a few dollars. The actual machine was pristine. The storage box however was absolutrely COVERED in masses of package tape. So much tape that I had to use a knife to cut through to just open the box. It ruined the storage box. It is not possible to use the box to store the machine in my pantry.

Sad romance
I loved this machine. I ordered a second. Krumkakes every morning. Cute crispy sizeable cakes. Can change the diameter by simply pouring less batter into the center. They keep for a week. My monkey loves them for breakfast. Easy cleanup. It was a whirlwind romance until it wasnโt. At first, I didnโt have to oil the pans. However, this past month Iโve been oiling but the cakes still stuck hardโespecially the initial cake. And then the handle broke DESPITE the oil. How it broke? There is a tiny thin little black cylinder holding the bottom half of the handle to the pan itself. And if it looks flimsy, itโs because it is. When releasing the initial cakes, there is a gentle wrangling to open the machine. And during that wrangling, the little cylinder piece snapped right off. So now when I try to open the machine to take the krumkake out, the top handle half takes the whole machine with it. Unfortunately for me, my little monkey loves krumkakes and hates oatmeal. So what do I do? I make a batter out of oatmeal and make krumkakes using the exact same ingredients as his porridge. Win-win. With two machines, breakfast making is fast enough so Iโm not stuck in the kitchen all morning. But the handles are poorly constructed. Alasโฆ The return window is closed. Iโll see if I can fix it somehow but weโll see. Sad romance.

cookie baking experience is essential
Well I have owned this machine for a bit and today I finally get a chance to use it ,so I mixed up the dough per the instruction booklet ,plugged the cooker in ,after a few minutes the green light came on and I sponed up the instructed amount carefully closed the top I hit the timer on my phone . Well the timer bell rang and I lifted up the lid and to my astonishment 2 prety cookies appeared. I used my wood scraper and carefully lifted the 2 out of the machine , I placed them on a marble cooling board and quickly spooned in 2 more and yes it works ,very well

Works well
Works as described, one improvement would be to place the indicator on the top panel. It is awkward to see on the bottom, especially in a well lite kitchen.

Does the job and cheaper than the unit were using previously
We really liked the even heat across the entire cooking surface. The cooking surface is smaller than on the previous unit we were using, but we still were able to get good results. It does take a little more time to cycle to full operating temperature after you remove a "cookie: or "cone shape" than our previous unit, but the hour maximum time to used the unit provided plenty of time to make about 70 or more cones.
