Consistently good, ready to play and durable. Highly recommended.
I play Bari, Tenor, alto and soprano saxes plus clarinet, and as a doubler all of these instruments need to be ready to blow. I’ve been using plasticovers for over eight years on all my horns and have been amazed at the consistency and ease of play. They have a good, slightly bright sound, which I actually like but it’s easy to control. They are very durable, but when they finally do go, it’s instantaneous! So I always keep some spares because I can’t get even a squawk out of a bad one!

Nice edgy sound without losing fullness
This reed is pretty versatile. I saw good reviews that it accentuates an edgy sound without losing volume. I've played some reeds that, indeed produce a bright edgy tone but suffer in being "tinny" sounding. This reed plays very well with a full but bright sound, without having to be initially water prepped. I played it on my Selmer S80, SYOS, CE Winds, and Jody Jazz mouthpieces. I used my Taishan tenor sax as the test horn. Even with the "darker" mouthpieces, the reed produced a brighter, raspier sound. It played well on each of the mouthpieces but suffered some loss of fullness on thr Selmer, most likely because it is the most restrictive of the mouthpieces I used. I think it sounded best on the CE Winds but that is simply my opinion. I had easy use of full range; I was able to capture great sound at low Bb just as easily as hitting altissimo notes. I am pleased with the playability of this reed. You won't be disappointed!

Consistently good quality, good sound
I think the Plasticover reeds are very good overall. Initially I liked the sound of standard reeds better, but these have grown on me, and I find the sound to be just as good as standard reeds. Plasticovers have several advantages over standard reeds. The Plasticovers have a longer life than standard reeds. They are ready to play without soaking. Since you don't have to worry about them drying out, they would be also better for Marching Band, gigs, or just when you may want to practice for short periods while taking breaks (because you won't have to worry about re-wetting your reed) . If you decide to try these reeds, keep in mind that they seem to play a slight bit softer than the stated strength. These reeds are seriously awesome
After trying a ton of different reeds, I feel like these are my current favorites for what music like to play (cover band, rock, loud, etc). On an average plastic Meyers, this reed gave me the projection and raspiness that I was seeking without having to drop serious cash on a metal mouthpiece. By no means do you get the same tone, but it is definitely the best reed/plastic mouthpiece combo I've tried so far in terms of getting closer to that growl. Also not having to wet them?...Blasphemy!! But I am shocked that they still play just fine dry! These reeds are seriously making me rethink everything. Bonus for extra durability and cool black look.

I have played the Tenor Saxaphone for 55 years, ...
I have played the Tenor Saxaphone for 55 years, 50 professionally. I play in rock, jazz, blues and funky bands. I am in the Garage Bands of the Bay Area book. I've played in several the bands in the book. I am in a rock band now. I started using Plasticover reeds since the 1970's. The band was called Massiah. We played at the Casuals on the Square and the Sportsman Club seven nights a week. I now play in a rock band. The Plasticover reeds hold up for up to a weeks worth of performances. I can play soft or as loud and hard as I need. I can still play the false high notes above high f and on up from there. I also play the alto sax also.

Good for marching band
Works great. The plastic cover is supposedly better than traditional cane reeds for marching band. Order a half size up (3.5 if you normally play a 3). These are loud and buzzy, especially when paired with the right mouthpiece. They di break easily, so I would consider a synthetic reed next time.
