As previous reviewers indicated, it's very hard to get out of the box - which would be no big deal except that the base piece (which folds in half) has some extremely sharp points on it, so it's not so hard to skewer yourself working with this item. Also, although the black matte finish is attractive, reading the fine print, this item is simply steel (NOT) stainless steel, painted black, so it's not hard to imagine that over time high heat combined with the grease of the meat could wear away the paint - which you would then be consuming. Very hard to get product safety data on something like that. You cook one side perfectly, but the skewers are completely round, so when you try to rotate them, they wind up rolling back over. You can probably cut your pieces large enough so that they rest on the grill to keep from spinning, but the whole point of this was to keep the skewers off the grill to prevent flare ups.
