5 star hub, 2 star SSD enclosure.
I want to give this 5 stars but at the moment it gets 3 because the SSD feature which is the major selling point keeps over heating and ejecting [point to note though the instructions do say FAT32 or EXFAT format and I have mine formatted to APFS so I could definitely be at fault here - it shouldn’t be an issue but I appreciate the hub plus ssd combo is unique so might require a specific format which is a bit pants but its important I mention as it’s not fair for me to moan that it isn’t working perfectly when I could be causing the problem - I shall update my review very soon with outcome - I don’t want to format the SSD so am ordering a smaller, cheaper one to test if the format is the issue).I have ordered some thermal silicon pads to see if I it helps and will update. As another review has pointed out the SSD cover rattles a bit - I think the pads will sort that as well (should probably be included with the product). The SSD speed whilst working was as advertised around 10gbps so no problems there. Other reviews have stated it is slower but I didn’t find that. Bear in mind though that it as 10gbps all in so the SSD will slow down if you’re transferring data from the hub side but that is to be expected. The actual hub is really good, nice space grey colour and comes with a really nice little case which is good quality and made to measure so a nice touch. The MAIN thing I really like about the hub is its the ONLY usb-C I have ever found that doesn’t have a short little fixed cable and I really dislike the little fixed cables - I think they are to prevent longer cables being used that would be to long to send data from bus power (and don’t expect to use really long cables with this for that reason) but I really like that this has a detachable cable - a pretty niche OCD reason but worth highlighting.I would have sent it back but would keep the hub alone for this feature! If I can get the SSD to work properly then it well get upgraded to 4 stars (the rattle on the ssd cover and extra effort to get the SSD to work reliably deny it the 5 stars though). This was originally a kickstarter device that was double the price under a different brand name so whilst its not cheap its very good value now its half the launch price. If they did a thunderbolt version it would be amazing but would be mahoosively more expensive! In Summary: Great product, some issues, lovely case, your only option if you want a usb-c hub with detachable cable. I bought on an Amazon prime deal so I’m keeping it regardless however at full list price I’d want the SSD to be more reliable.I shall update!

Good addition to a MacBook Air
Having recently bought a new MacBook Air, one of the biggest drawbacks has been the lack of ports. This simple device comes with a nice carry case and gets rid of most of them as it adds three USB A ports, an HDMI port, two card readers as well as the ability to include an external hard disk.Construction is very plastic but matches the colour scheme of the machine. Installation of a hard disk was straight forward (although I would have preferred a screw to lock the HDD board in place) and was immediately recognised by the Mac as needing initialisation.Cable supplied was dodgy causing the machines too lose connection but a swap with another usb-c to usb-c cable solved this. Good value for the money I spent.

It works well with Mac (M1)
Combining usb hub with an external drive bay is an excellent idea, very convenient. The only downside is the thermal solution to dissipate heat from the NVMe drive is inadequate (M.2 NVMe drives are usually pretty hot).

Best thing i have bought for my M1 Macbook pro
The product is geat is well built and matches the macbook pro M1, its a solid build with a low profile with all the ports you need for.your every day needs the bonus to.this is the NMVE m.2 slot underneath which works flawlessly, and becaue the cinsteuctiin is aluminium it dissapates the heat from the drive effiecently, with the addition 100w PDthrough chsrging port what more do.you need its very compact

A Must Have Hub and Storage In One
This is the second item I have bought from this brand and it is a fantastic buy. If you have a Mac of any sort, it is so useful. A good hub but the added benefit of additional storage makes it more useful than a standard hub or portable storage. Works well, keeps cool and very well made. Highly recommended

NVMe at USB 2 Speeds
I connected this HUB to a Macbook Pro 13 and all works fine, except I can only get USB 2 speeds. The NVMe disk only reaches 40MBs speeds. Probably the problem is the USB-C supplied cable that is limiting the speed (the TB3 ports on the Mac work just fine with other devices). Also it the device makes some noises. It seems to have a bad fan working inside. Can't recommend.
