6ft bar is fine ive also got a 7ft bar on and also fine.

Is there anyway to bolt the rack onto the floor?

No it’s a free standing rack.

What is that metal plate thing on bottom on the back cross piece?

That's for attaching a landmine. So you can put a barbell in one end and do a variety of extra movements. Google landmine attachment. Recommend this cage. Great value . Had 300kg on bar and remained solid.
