There is no spring assist. **Q: Is the clip able to be moved to either side for left handed people?** A: Yes it does!! **Q: Is the Emerson logo painted on or engraved; does it look like it will chip off?** A: The logo appears to be etched through the coating and onto the steel itself. Even if you do wear down the coating, the logo will remain. However, it'll be silver on silver, so there won't be as much contrast. As for the coating itself, it is tough stuff.
