Quality knife (thin and sleek)
Compact knife, thin profile, fits in a pocket with no bulk. Quite small in my hand, but I'm not using it for heavy duty tasks. Arrives sharp, and the spring assisted deploy is very responsive. Good value pocket knife for the price.

As Expected...
I have owned several Kershaws and many other knives from various makers. This Kershaw Leek arrived in two days from order and it is exactly what Kershaw claims it is. This knife is razor sharp out of the box. The grind angles on the edge are almost perfect. I have received knives from other manufacturers with absolutely horrendous grind angles on the edge of the blade. This leads to removing unnecessary stock from the blade upon resharpening. The steel used for the blade is very capable for an EDC pocket knife. It came razor sharp, holds an edge sufficiently, and is easy enough to bring to surgical sharpness if you have the skill. The handles are aluminum with stainless steel liners. The liners are on both sides of the blade making for a very sturdy knife. The lock up of the locking liner is plenty to keep the knife from folding up on your fingers during use. The lock will probably not stand up to you hanging from it, but THAT'S NOT WHAT IT WAS DESIGNED FOR! Yes, the point of this blade is somewhat thin, but I was looking for a pocket knife with a 3" blade. I don't need to split logs with this knife. I own an axe for splitting wood. I use my pocket knife as a tool several times a day. I have been carrying a knife for 35 years and I am 45 now. If you need a pocket knife that you are going to use for everyday things from opening mail to whittling at a reasonable price, this is it.

Excellent every day knife
I love this knife and carry it daily. It’s slim enough to clip to front or back pocket without getting in the way. Auto-open is nice. It’s perfect length for daily tasks. Highly recommend. I’ve carried it for over a year and when I lost one a few months ago, I immediately ordered another!

Super nice for it's intended use
I needed a new EDC for light duty use and this fits the bill. Highlights: -Speedsafe action is snappy and a pleasure to use. -Finish is smooth but not slippery, perfect. -Love the understated olive drab w/stainless steel blade. The contrasting color scheme works and it's mellow enough looking for EDC at work. The orange looks nice as well, and easy to find if placed somewhere, but I prefer the muted color of the olive drab for EDC. For camping a bright color is nice. Some things to consider: -It has a thumb stud that protrudes on both sides of the blade. It also serves as a blade stopper. If using the thumb screw(s) to open be careful. I find that if I only use my thumb to open the blade, my thumb can easily slip forward during the opening of the blade, and I've come close to slicing my thumb. I probably won't ever use the studs to open but when I do, I find that using my thumb in conjunction with my forefinger works better. Better control and no slipping on to the blade. -The blade "open" lock is fine. I have no need for it however. It's not like this thing will just magically open in your pocket. It takes a purposeful effort. I'll probably tighten the screw down so it never locks on it's own. Right now, as new, it's a non-issue but I can see it getting looser and start locking unintentionally. -The lock bar is plastic, some complain but there's a reason for it. The lock can be "locked" when the blade is open, and if closed while the lock is engaged the blade will fall on the lock bar. If it were metal, this could damage the blade. -This is a light duty EDC for me. If you work on a dock or similar and need a work knife to open heavy cardboard and cut straps all day every day then get an appropriate knife with a more substantial heavy duty blade.. -The finish is smooth, but not totally smooth. It's anodized steel with a shot-peen type of finish. It's perfect for my EDC, but if working with oily or wet hands, not at all ideal. Get something with G10 and a proper rough grip. Love it so far and i have no idea why some complain that it rides high in the pocket. It's fine/normal compared to other knives I've had, including Kershaw. 4-5 times the money of a drug store knife, 10x the value. EDIT: I now see how if you carry point up, the knife rides much higher. The lock mechanism takes up real estate at the bottom of the handle if carried this way it rides higher. I carry point down so no issue in that config.

Kershaw is King
Best EDC if you're OK without a deep pocket clip. Fit and finish are superb. Design is excellent with a safety for the tip of the spring assisted blade. No snag points in the pocket. Excellent Sandvik 14c18N blade although a super steel would be nice but not expected at this price point.

Best knife for knife beginner and EDC
Kershaw leek (frame lock version) is the best ~$40 dollar knife you can buy atm with quality that can compete with other ~$100 knife. It is also one of few knife that's got plenty of style points, not making you look like some tactical red neck. Knife comes sharp, design is ergonomic, and the size will fit into most people's hand comfortably. Speedsafe assist make this pretty much an automatic knife while being legal. Leek is actually a decently large knife in a small package. I recommend it for any beginner or EDC knife. So why do I take off one star. I bought 3 leek of the same Olive Drab color code, and all three come in different hint/saturation of olive green. One is so dark its pretty much black. Per Kershaw rep, its due to the anodize process variation which causes different batches to be different, which is a little disappointing since I consider EDC knife part of my "fashion" accessory and the color came out wrong. Also the safety stop is the only part of the knife that's plastic and pron to break.
