Jonathan Green (10820) Fast Grow Grass Seed - Cool Season Lawn Seed (3 lb)

I wasn't expecting much but this worked great. I had a pool put in last summer turning my yard into a big mud slide. I temporarily put fake grass down on most of it. But this summer I wanted to see if I could get some grass to grow. I have a lawn guy, but I still have a deck to do so I decided to give this a try and he could do his magic if it didn't work when he starts his service later this month after the deck is up. I must admit I didn't follow many of the directions. I just sprinkled some seed a couple of weeks ago when I knew there would be a rainy week. Other than the rain the weather wasn't great, we were going from 80 degrees all the way down to 30 some nights. I figured if it didn't work I can try again. I only did about half my yard to see how it does. Two weeks later and it's growing nicely almost everywhere except for a couple of areas with really compacted clay soil. Did I mention we have horrible soil? I had another bag so I aerated those spots and raked some top soil in before I sprinkled more seed. I also added seed to more of my yard except for the area where they will be working on my deck. I am more than thrilled with the result. Excited that this year I'll have grass in my yard again.

A terrific product. It quickly filled in bald spot in my yard...grass came in lush and green. I liked it so much that I bought it again for other areas in my yard that I had no intention of working on!

I live in a sandy soil area where grass is difficult to grow. But, this mixture worked where many others failed.

I live in NJ and bought this mid September. Used it on several dead patches and in less than 2 weeks the bare patches (maybe a foot or so in diameter) are gone, and a few days later used it on a much larger section that sod wouldn't take and some expensive smart grass seed blend didn't as well which was a waste of money. This fast growing seed about a week out from seeding already has maybe 2" grass seedlings shooting up. I will have to do some fill ins but i still have plenty of seed to fill that all in. This works really well so far, we'll see how it holds up over winter and the summer weather. Going to add some fall fertilizer this weekend.

After raking this spring my grass looked horrifying--I stared at my neighbor's perfect green lawns enviously and wanted a quick fix so as not to be "that house". I got it! I used the product very liberally and after raking the existing dry, sandy areas areas that have never had grass and the new bare spots I very casually threw down a few very inexpensive bags of topsoil with hummus and manure mixed raked it over and then raked in a generous amount of seed. You could label my whole process of application as haphazard--no spreader, no measurements just flicking it against the wind and raking. A landscaper friend had once told me with grass seed, more is more and to leave allowances for birds, bad seed, and other things so I did. I watered with a sprinkler for 15 minutes (one heavy rain) in early evening and early am. In 6 days we started having lawn and in 10 there is a fresh area that looks like we laid down new sod. After using the Jonathan Green product I realized that I still had several spots that were not treated so I bought a shake and pour brand at a home improvement store. It has been twelve days and with no sign of improvement aside from a few stray blades. I just ordered more Jonathen Green to fix the issue. The only problem now is that our old lawn looks lousy compared to our new lawn areas so I now think I am going to have to overseed. Having read many tips from the Jonathen Green website and other lawn sites I think that the key really is to keep the soil moist but not drowning and frequent watering seems to have done the trick. The big thing is to never ever let it get dried out. I used this product in late spring in New England with temps running between 50 and 80 degrees. A large portion of the area I used the product on was over treated with chemicals by previous home owners and the soil (with my small ammended add on soil) is dry, sandy and has issues holding water.

Happy with results. Soaked for a few seconds in a mesh bag for a couple days and it sprouted beautifully so I spread it out and filled the shaded dirt areas.
