These spikes are really high quality and easy to assemble. They are super effective! It has been a few weeks since we have installed them on the roof of our house on the coast. We were missing a few strips from the time the roof was done (years ago) and the birds would always sit right there and either nest or make a huge mess but these babies took care of the problem. Our deck is clean and no more bird doodoo anywhere!

So, getting rid of the cat was not an option (although after I found the first pile of blue bird feathers, it was at the top of my list). I tried barb wire first, but she went right around that and sat on top the boards you see in the picture waiting for the blue birds to fly out of the nesting box. These spikes will solve that issue! It now looks like by blue birds are living in some type of concentration camp, but if it keeps them and the fledglings alive, it will be worth dealing with the ugliness of it all. Assembling the spikes in the plates was easy, just be sure to insert more than half of the spike before changing up your grip to push it home, as the tension will make the spike fly back out of the holes in unpredictable directions. Definitely wear eye protection and gloves! If attaching to wood like me, invest in stainless steel pan-head screws (it comes with white zip ties) and a LONG screwdriver bit for you drill. The mounting plate has screw holes in it, but I pre-drilled and used my impact driver with a 4 inch bit and 1 inch screws. A 6" or 8" bit would have been better, as the impact driver would impact the top of the spikes and stop advancing, forcing me to hold them out of the way with my free hand. Also, be VERY CAREFUL not to go too quickly and have your driver slip off the screw, as you will make shish kabobs out of your knuckles! A torx head stainless screw and a longer bit would have been ideal, but I used what I had on hand (phillips head screws and bit). Overall, I'm really happy with the quality of these.

Assembly, putting the spikes in the strips, takes a while but is fun to do. The strips are easily cut with tin snips so they fit in an area. They look nice. They are effective.

Pigeons kept standing on my balcony and pooping. I laid these out where they were standing and they've moved on to another location. They don't come assembled so you need to take some time to thread the prongs through the holes on the strip. But it's pretty easy to do. I found it easier with pliers. The strip is really flexible metal so you can bend it or even cut it with metal clippers. Very handy product!!

The assembly, although tedious, was easy and the components fitted precisely so the unit was very nice looking and long-lasting set up for me. I can easily recommend to others as the best I have seen

I am a first time homeowner of two years. My fiancé and I have a bird feeder and bird bath in the backyard because we love to watch the birds. Unfortunately this has invited the robins to try to nest under the awning over our front door. We tried everything. The flash tape worked great the first summer. We thought it was a quick and cheap solution. There were also a set of 3 ceramic owls above the front door. They were miniature figurines, not realistic in any way but we thought it helped, they were cute, and also too high for us to reach to pull down even if we wanted to. This past summer was our second summer here. The robins started to ignore the flashing tape. They were insistent on nesting above the door, and started knocking the owls down, breaking them (I was so upset, I thought they were so cute!). We tried rubber snakes, moving them every few days. Didn't work. We tried flat holographic owls (no space to put a life size realistic owl), those were packed up and sent back within 24 hours. Every day we were outside, pulling down grass and mud and sweeping it all up and throwing it away (they would sit on the power lines and chirp angrily at us). Maybe we would have put up with it if they chose a window but it was right over the front door and it prevented us from opening the door (using the basement door as a daily ingress/egress route is not an option). We were so frustrated. We looked into spikes but I was reluctant because the windows in the front are so old, I didn't want to destroy them further. But I was at my wit's end and could not stand guard outside our house 24/7 with a broom to shoo them away. So we bought these. I ended up having to order another set because this wasn't enough for all 5 windows.It finally worked! They gave up! We thought for sure they would end up nesting in our next door neighbor's awning (set up exactly like ours), but apparently they can sense the bad vibes coming from that house and its residents. They moved one building up, into the hanging flower pots. It has been a lovely summer of being able to open/close the front door without having muddy nest bits falling on us or having robins angrily caw at us while we clean up their mess yet again.If you're trying other stuff and it's just not working, stop wasting time and money and just buy these. Don't forget to buy screws/glue so you can attach them!

I had high hopes for these prongs. And I think if your problem is doves, pigeons or larger they would work great. I put these prongs up on the beams under my deck and all summer it was like a bird condo all over these prongs. Small birds just go between the prongs or up over the prongs and build nests. It was almost like this thing was a chain link fence for all of their little homes sitting on the beam behind the prongs. Useless in my case.

The is a great way to keep birds from landing where you don't want them. They're really sturdy and made to last, thanks to the stainless steel base. These spikes are easy to put up and work well without hurting the birds. You can use them on ledges, roofs, fences, and pretty much anywhere you need to. Overall, they're a handy solution for keeping birds away and avoiding messes.
