Way smaller than expected
I really like the concept. I have an older 70lb golden retriever that is losing her vision, but LOVES to swim. I thought that the vertical target would make it easier to see.Guess I saw the package size of 8.5" and missed the actual size of 5.8" - Ladies can you relate? If you have a small dog, this may work well. Given that it wasn't very large, she wound up ingesting a lot of water and doing the huffing cough and water barf thing anyone with a retrieving dog knows about. If it were twice the size, I think it would be great. Just too small for a big dog. It seemed to hold up pretty well. She loves to 'make sure it's dead by chomping on it a few times' and it did OK with that. Not as well as a firehouse dummy, but not too bad.

The best floating fetch toy we've found, hands down.
Best floating toy we've found and we've used a bunch - Frisbees made of neoprene, rubbery frisbee things with buoyant material in them, tennis balls, floating kongs, plastic bumpers, floating animal toys but this is by far the best. We've had four golden retrievers over the last few years and live on a lake. When I ran across this while searching for a new water fetch toy it was exactly what I wanted. The trouble with all the other toys we've tried is they are either too low profile or dark in color - in both cases they would get "lost" in the water and it's hard for the dogs to track unless the water is flat calm. With the chuckit toys (shark fin, duck butt or gator) the bright color and the fact they sit 4" or so inches above the water line make them easy to find. Like ALL of the other options (save for tennis balls) these are NOT CHEW TOYS! Yes, if you let your dog alone with it they will eviscerate it quickly. But the fabric is tough, the rubber is soft and it flies great. I'll throw these 100' or so off the pier and the dogs will fetch them for hours. We've bought some for friends and have worn a few out but will keep coming back to these!

Lots of Seams - Vulnerable to Tearing Fast
My dog (41-lbs) instantly loved this. We got a medium for her size, and it worked great for the first hour. We used it for one day, while playing in the water. Unfortunately, the seams busted through in the matter of an hour of play. She is not an aggressive chewer, but when she has anything "ball-like" in her mouth, she does a little gentle munching action on it.Because it is easier for her to grab on the tail end, I expected the tail end to receive more wear and tear - although I was expecting it to last longer than an hour. Since there are many seams on such a small surface area, it has a lot of vulnerabilities and weak spots. Her other Chuckit! toys (which she also loves) have lasted much longer. If it lasted for at least a full day, I would have given it a few more stars. If you don't mind patching it up (which I'll be doing), it's a great toy. Otherwise, expect it to bust down along the seams sooner than later.I would only recommend to those who are crafty and patient in fixing/patching up toys. Otherwise, try a different watertoy.

Best water toy we've found!
The media could not be loaded. We love this toy!! We've tried tennis balls, frisbees, and toy fetching sticks and this is by far the best!! Reggie isn't the best swimmer and with tennis balls he was swallowing a lot of water making him cough causing him to get distracted on actually swimming. He sits pretty low in the water and would always have a really hard time being able to see frisbees and the toy sticks we threw for him especially if it was wavy. We actually lost a few. I was really excited when I saw this because it floats so well and sticks up so high in the water plus it's soft for his mouth! He loves fetching this more than all the other toys because it's so easy for him to see and I think the bobbing around makes it more exciting. All the other dogs at the dog park go crazy other this too. They all end up trying to get this toy instead of their own. A little 3 pound yorkie even swam out and got it. Took a few tries for him to grab it but he was quite excited to get it. Everyone always asks where we got it. Reggie is a Wheaton Terrier mix and weights 30 pounds and the medium fits him well. I think the small size would work great too because sometimes he likes to grab the ball portion of the toy and it fills his whole mouth up. Reggie doesn't notice this but I love that it looks like a duck bottom! Super cute!

Wish I had sent it back. Really cute and fun, just don't leave your dog alone with it.
I have owned a few of these and this is the first time my dog chewed it apart on the first day. It had a small flaw (tiny piece of fabric that was loose) and I should have sent it back... because as soon as the dog noticed the little piece of fabric loose, he went after it and shredded it. Fun fact... once he was done destroying it, the piece of foam under the cover and ball was loose and it's one of his favorite toys. He hasn't destroyed that. It just can't be used as intended anymore.

Best pool toy ever!!
This is the best pool toy my mom has ever gotten! It floats so good that I don’t have any problems seeing it in the water. I always have a ball with me at the lake, but I always lose it because I can’t find it. To me, it looks like the same color. But, this sticks up and looks like a shark (I’m not afraid of sharks. They are just hangry dogs.) I love it!But mom won’t let me play with it when I’m not swimming. She says I’ll destroy it. I guess that’s probably true. I mean, look at what I did to the couch. 😬

My dog loves chasing these floating ducks!!
These fun floating ducks are the BEST for playing at the lake! Unlike a regular ball, you can actually see these because the duck part bobs above the water. My dog seems to like the general amount of "squishy-ness" they have as well, she'll chomp on them while swimming back in with them. They have been very durable for us - 50lb Springer Spaniel - she doesn't tend to destroy things though. They are fun on land as well - they have a fun and crazy bounce when you throw them because of the irregular shape.

Ideal for retireves in the Sea
I discovered these a few years ago now and my dogs love them. Easy to spot, particularly in the sea and the dogs love them. Also ideal as the medium size fits into the launcher, I tend to use the short launcher so as not to fling them too far out to sea!Best part is the colour and that they float "tail up" which makes it easier for the dogs to spot even in moderate waves. Only slight downside is that the stitching could be more robust on the tails, but easier to repair, although does take some time to become damaged. Other downside is lack of availability. Very difficult to find other than on Amazon and then tends to be limited stock.Good product as you would expect from Chuck-It

Nicely designed water toy
It’s safe to say this is my dogs favourite toy, but problem only because she associates it with swimming. The item is weighted at one end and pointed at the other end which makes it ideal for the water. The pointed end is easy to see as it rises up and I easier to grab (than say a tennis ball).I’ve bought a new one recently as the first one got destroyed by another dog who chewed it. It is not a chew toy! Use it for fetch in the water only.

Great on land and water!
These are great in the water; saves your dog having to submerge his face in retrieval. Love it!! It’s also great on land too, and my standard poodle loves the unpredictability of its bounce!!

Pros- Very good weight to it so it can be chucked by ...
My 1.5 yr old boxer absolutley loves this. Can't get enough of it.If your dog loves going to the beach and water/swimming go for it, but if you are gonna use it as a house toy look else where.Pros- Very good weight to it so it can be chucked by hand for long distances.Floats great, and has good grip so the dogs always go straight for it and grab it without to much hassle.Cons- I only use this as an outdoor toy for the beach as after 5 mins of my dog chewing on it at home it started to get holes and stuff in it. But for the use it is intended for it serves great. Thumbs up!

Brilliant for swimming
My dog loves these, he has the shark and duck. They're small enough for him to carry in the water. Great toys for swimming
