Loud .
Works fine, good for you the price. Only one volume ringer setting, which is wake up the neighborhood with one ring loud.

It's a phone that works even when there is no power in the building or cellular service.
This is a lightweight, cheap quality & simple corded phone. It literally says on the receiver that it's a hotel phone so that should be an indication of the "value" intended. Still, it does what it's meant to do, provide a phone line that works even when the power is out. The one thing we haven't gotten used to though is the incredibly loud ringer! My 28 year old daughter cries "ouch" every time it goes off. Also, do yourself a favor & pick up a somewhat heavier duty phone cord for connection to from the back of the receiver to the wall. The other one is incredibly thin with virtually no insulation. It'll save you trouble in the future. You can still thread it through on the back, even when it's the normal thickness, allowing you to hang it on the wall. Toss the crappy cord it comes with.

Cheap
Of course I should have known that at this price I was not getting a great product, but this one is so cheap that I am advising you not to buy it. Very light-weight; base sticks to receiver when you try to lift the receiver from the base; poor sound quality; AWFUL ring-tone that can't be lowered or turned off.

basic, analog and noisy
It works without needing power, so I got it for my Mom since she went with Voip home phone. Battery backup will keep her going on the internet, but her cordless handset would need one too. She's probably not going to remember anyone's number without her contacts stored, but at least she can receive calls. Sound is decent and clear, but the ring is VERY shrill and unpleasant. But given it is for emergency purposes, I guess shrieking like an alarm or siren could be appropriate. It's unobtrusive in size, and can be wall mounted. I just wanted her to have a non-powered option for when the apocalypse is upon us.

Rings too loud, Can't Adjust.
Very LOUD and ANNOYING ringer. And you can't adjust the setting. There's a place for ringer adjustment on the backside of base but the switch is missing so you can't adjust it. Otherwise, expect a cheap lightweight plastic phone that does the basic landline phone job without needing power. We use it at our business, since we still require a landline there. We just set call forwarding so the landline rings to my cell phone. This phone is never actually used, except to test the line and to set the *72 call forwarding. So its fine for that purpose. But teh ringer really sucks. We put it in a foam box to dampen the sound, and its still too loud.

Handset broke after 2 months of installing, one way speech, then completely dead. Handset feels cheap also, no surprise it didn't last.
