Spiral router bits are now my only choice
I watched a video comparing spiral v straight cut router bits and the evidence was compelling. With a straight cut router bit you get two rotating blades that hit the workpiece over and over again to remove waste The exit wound is usually ragged as the material chips out. With a spiral cutter it works much the same was a drill bit taking a constant cut along its length and avoiding chip out or at lease minimizing it. I strongly recommend this. I decided to buy this one which is a relatively cheap cutter for my first attempt and the results were excellent so I'm not sure I would spend more than this given they do a great job.

Very pleased I bought this - wished I had it sooner
I've just tried it and I am very pleased with this bit. I'm intermediate / hobby carpenter. I'm just making some bow ties for my wife solid oak desk - previously I was using a straight 5mm bit - it worked, but its better off staying with shelf holes. This new bit chewed through the oak with a basic Bosch router without any issue at all - it was a real pleasure using this. It plunged straight down to 1cm without any complaints. Very sharp, smooth cut - couldn't ask for more

1/4” UpCut Spiral Router Bit
Only used the extra long 1/2” bit so far and was impressed with the results. Good quality and very sharp. Will have to take lighter passes with the 1/4” shank as too bigger cut you snap the bit.

Good for price
Good value for money but looses edge quite quickly. After 2 hours of routing in softwood, the cutter was blunt and unusable. More expensive cutters from companies such as Titman will last several days of heavy usage. You get what you pay for!

Just what I needed.
I use this cutter to carve out numbers and letters in wood with a hand held router. This cutter suits my requirements well and it will pass the test of time and frequent use I'm sure.

Ideal bit for cutting 6" holes for cornhole boards.
Nice sharp router bit, ideal for cutting holes in 3/4" plywood with Ridgid trim router. Provides super clean holes & considerably safer than using 6" hole saw with battery powered drill!

Sharp when new
I'm pretty sure either these are hss or just softer carbide because they lose the sharpness pretty fast. But they are priced close to the hss bits from the better manufacturers so I can't really complain. Known of their spirals have broken and they get the job done.
