nearliy silent and way more conistent than my panasonic!
First off, i'm a repeat panasonic microwave person and after the 3rd death, I decided to break the curse and go with Toshiba. After a ton of research, this came out to be more powerful and only slightly larger than my existing microwave. The looks are pretty standard, it's not ugly, it's not beautiful, but it is really good at what it does. I've never popped popcorn so perfectliy in my life and I've also never set a bag on fire before. lol Just make sure you punch in the right time before walking away! I've also noticed that cold dishes warm up about 4x faster than my old 1K watt Panasonic and more evenly. So far, i don't use any of the special modes since I never really do anything but warm stuff up but on a whim I did try the defrost on a big block of bacon ends. It performed beautfifully. It defrosted without cooking and it was such a nice surprise that it actually worked! The other part I really like about it (and don't like) is that it's just so darn quiet. I keep yelling at my kids to start the microwave because I literally can't hear it from a few feet away. I thought they just put it in the microwave and left it there like they usually do. Sorry kids... It's actually even quieter than my fridge. It's amazing. The door handle actually opens up the door without any stupid buttons or latches, too. A huge improvement over my panasonice and that dumb button that always breaks. Overall, am I happy with this? I'm beyond happy. I will never go back to Panasonic! Oh, I guess the only real complaint (a minor one) is that the buttons can be a little hard to push sometimes and the clock is unreadable at my height (5'11 if that matters). The top of the numbers are cut off when I'm standing next to it unless I stoop down a little to see the full display.

Excellent As Promised But Not Without A Quality Control Issue
My family started using Microwave ovens in the late 1970's they were enormous back then but they were powerful and did a good job. The first one I purchased for myself was a 1100 watt magic chef in the late 1980's it travelled with me for decades and worked great for something like 20 years and was still working when I gave it to a friend. Then in the 2000's I noticed a shift where it was not common to find 1100 watt microwaves and it has continued till this day where 1000 watts is where most top out. Anyway there have been other microwaves all pretty much disappointing in performance and as of recently I said that's it! I want a high performance microwave with a good interior size no more of these cramped 1.2 CF interiors and purchased this one as the exterior dimensions are not that much greater at 1.6 CF interior room. When I received this one I was at first amazed how light weight it is compared to the one it was replacing and realized it is the inverter technology lightening things up. It is so light weight in fact it will skid across the table opening and closing it. No problem I just put some drawer liners under the feet to keep it from sliding around. When I plugged it in for the first time it made a horrible noise I thought what the heck this is brand new where is this noise coming from?? at first I thought it was a bad gear in the turn table mechanism and tried to turn it with my fingers to feel if there was anything wrong with it but it was tight which it should be. After turning it on and off a few times I zeroed in on the sound and discovered it was a fan hitting something internally so being a technician I took the cowling off being very mindful not to touch any high energy components like capacitors or come in contact with wiring which could be potentially lethal. Note: It does require tamper proof Torx head screw drivers or a very good precision set of Torx drivers to remove the case screws to get into the appliance. Note: I do not recommend or endorse nor encourage that anyone should do as I have done but illustrate an issue with Quality Control on Toshibas part and the actions I took to correct it so others are aware when making this purchase they may encounter the same issue. Note: People who are unfamiliar with electricity, electronics or working with and around High Voltages weather it be DC or AC Circuits should not attempt to open one of these units as it can be lethal. Certain components like capacitor's will carry a lethal charge of electricity that can last for weeks even when unplugged and it can kill you. Note: I myself have been an electronics Technician in many professional work environments including appliance repair for decades and am still learning and always wary of touching anything I do not understand and even more cautious of touching things I do understand. I then discovered a metal duct work for channeling the air over components was not installed correctly (see picture included with this review) and I needed to bend it to get it out of the way of the fan blades, Two screws later and cautiously removing the shroud using insulated magnetic tools then a quick bend with a pair of needle nose plyers replaced the shroud and the problem was solved. After repairing this minor Issue, the Microwave works better than any I have ever used. Coffee & tea perfectly hot within 1 minute and I like mine HOT. Cook times are greatly reduced and the cooking is more even. Defrost by weight works perfectly, amazingly so. The feature to turn off the chimes is priceless no more stupid loud dinging when starting and finishing a cook cycle. When you turn off the noise however the kitchen timer also does not make noise. The microwave is also extremely quiet when running. All in all I am very pleased with this Microwave and hope what I experienced was just a one off, otherwise Toshiba had better get there Quality Control act together or there are going to be allot of returns for a very simple issue that should never have been permitted to leave the factory.

quality is garbage..
This is the second one I received in a week. Same model. I sent the other one back and wrote a review about that. It would not cook anything right out of the box. It appears it will not let me write two separate reviews for the same product even though there were 2 separate purchases. My first Toshiba last week would power on at about 28 watts for about 30 seconds or so and then for a second or two go up to 1750 ish watts and then right back down to 28 ish watts. I had a bag of popcorn in it for 5 minutes and not a single kernel popped. This microwave came today and I put in a bag of popcorn and plugged this into my watt meter. It cooked the popcorn quickly and left hardly any kernels. I was using the built in setting for popcorn but it was done about 20 seconds before that. Popcorn would have burned had I let it go all the way. No big deal. My watt meter was pegging out and flashing around 1850 ish watts. The amp reading was about 15.6 ish amps. So when the manual says you need to have this on a separate circuit by itself then you need to have it on a second circuit by itself. I have a dedicated 20 amp circuit and just a range hood on the same circuit. I am under my 20 amp rating, worst case scenario since my range hood only uses 200 watts maximum. I noticed a ting ting ting sound briefly on start up and more so as the cooling fan wound down after the microwave shut off. Of course this is a typical low quality toshiba microwave and I read about this cooling fan issue and interference with some sort of metal heat or deflector shield. I believe my first toshiba last week had the issue where the fan wouldn't spin at all and that caused my microwave to not work properly. I pulled the cover off, of a brand new delivered today microwave, and found that indeed the flimsy metal piece next to the fan was being hit by the fan when the fan had low rpms such as starting and stopping. I just bent the piece out of the way. I could have bent it using a q-tip. That is how thin it is. No more ting ting ting sound and everything is working fine. I have a lot of concerns about the longevity of this microwave based on numerous things I have read. Indeed it has very flimsy sheet metal all around and it is light enough that it moves on the counter when opening or shutting the door. I will try some rubber stuff that is used on shelf liners and see if that works.

Budget Model That Works
First off let me say this works as expected, and is a quiet running microwave. However when you pay premium money for a premium option (Inverter) you somewhat expect a few premium bells and whistles along with the purchase. This microwave has none. The UI (User Interface) is very basic. When when using the inverter % part of this microwave the UI never shows that the inverter is actually in use, it only shows that the unit is on. I don't need the UI to show this, I can clearly see that the unit is on by the table turning and light is on. Anyway my 15 your old inverter microwave that finally gave up would show you the details of your inverter after starting it. The % of the your inverter selection would show while it was cooking. Giving you feed back on your selection. I miss this feature. Anyway it works as it should and will probably last awhile. The size was as advertised. It has nice clean look and everything seems to work as it should.

Easy to use, meant for high powered heating and cooking, durable
Great quality. I like that it’s the Toshiba brand because it is made of good quality materials, nothing thin plastic, breakable or irregular. It is easy to use with a simple menu but looks like there are many settings, power levels and some functions for specific foods. Heats quickly and has a nice door lock that is easy to open with a lever button pull. Happy with this microwave for regular use and for simple cooking.

Finally a quality device among the pile of tin cans
This microwave finally a solid device with great features for home use. Forced into using Panasonic for prior microwave ovens and they were terrible and sounded like a tin can with a jet engine inside and they would ultimately fail if you tried to cook something in them beyond 4 minutes. This Toshiba is like a Lexus compared to a cheap compact car. Even the door shuts nicely just like a higher end car. When it is running at times I have to confirm it is actually on because it is so quiet. I have never seen a microwave that is that quiet. The controls are fairly intuitive although there is always a learning curve on new devices like these. But other brands build in user logic that makes no sense and just gets in the way. Not this one. And the power of it is amazing. We had to relearn what times to use for various foods because this device will turn things to molten lava on the settings from prior microwaves with the same output wattage. A good problem to have after some minor adjustments. Maybe we got lucky but it seems that someone put some thought and brainpower into this design and manufacturing. I have no idea what the competitors are doing except applying simple formulas to come up with the lowest priced, counter intuitive, flimsily built, and short lived device. I would be embarrassed if I were them. This one is a keeper.

It lasted 2.5 years- guess they don’t make ‘em like they used to
We were content enough with this microwave, but for the price I expected to get a bit more use out of it. We bought it because it had a silent mode, but that was a pain in the behind to turn on (seriously- it’s a multi-step process that we had to look up online, like hold down two buttons while you push another, do the Hokey Pokey and turn yourself about, so the microwave doesn’t shout) , and as soon as the power blinks or the breaker trips, it resets. So, we gave up on that pretty quickly. It interferes with all the Bluetooth in a 30 foot radius, but we kind of got used to that. I think that might be a feature of the inverter. More on that in a sec. We would have preferred one with push-to-start beyond 3 minutes, but we thought we *really* wanted that silent mode. Looking back, that was pretty silly. I don’t know what we were thinking. We don’t even have any small children in the house to be bothered by the beeping. Apparently we just got hung up on that for some reason. Things were weird in 2022. It said in giant letters on the box “INVERTER MATTERS.” Now, I don’t know what the inverter is supposed to do, but I have a suspicion that it’s the reason for the breakdown. Last night it made the noise that I tentatively identified as the inverter kicking on (again, I’m just guessing; this just worked like a normal microwave, but noisier), then it stopped heating, but kept the fan running. Or, I think it was the fan. It definitely wasn’t cooking! The screen gave me an E-6 error, and according to the interwebs, that pretty much means she’s a goner. I didn’t notice at first, because it was still making the fan sound, and still interfering with Bluetooth. I was highly disappointed when I opened it, the fan kept running, and my poor potatoes were still hard and cold. So sad. Oh yeah, that’s another thing it does. It has cooling cycles, during which it keeps running even when you open the door. I was terrified at first, but it didn’t seem to cook my hand when I reached in there, so I guess it’s supposed to do that. Or maybe I’ll get hand cancer. Who knows? Good thing I held onto my old dinosaur of a microwave from before I got this extra fancy new one. The spinny thing doesn’t turn anymore- I mean, that thing is at least 15 years old- but at least we got to eat, right?

Soooo Happy with this Microwave!This
This microwave checks all of my boxes. I wanted a handle on the door, check. I wanted to be able to cook microwave popcorn without leaving half the kernels un-popped, check. And of course...heating food, check. Works way better than my Breville and was 1/3 the price!
