Had to switch to this non-copper algaecide once switched over to a salt pool. Regular algaecide containing copper turns water and everything blue green. Been using this product for a full summer and fall without complaint. Water if clear and no algae. Does the job at a fair price. Will keep using.

I maintain my pool myself. It's about 10,000 gallons, saltwater, and has a chlorine generator cell that works only when the water temp. is above 55F. It's late February in north Texas and after an extreme week-long cold snap (lows in the teens) the weather quickly began hitting highs in the 70s. Visible growth of algae (a green tint) appeared in my pool seemingly overnight. I keep it operational and uncovered year-round. I brought the chlorine level up from zero to about 5 ppm using liquid chlorine, then I distributed 12 oz. of Doheny's Algaecide 60 around the pool. Two days later, the water was crystal clear. **See My Before and After Photos** 12 oz. of this algaecide is worth almost $10, but then a bag of good shock costs about the same these days. I'd rather use liquid chlorine plus algaecide instead of just shock because I believe the effect of the algaecide will last longer. I also believe I caught the algae bloom soon enough to stop it in this manner. Some schools of thought consider algaecide to be more of an algae preventative than a treatment and that only shock should be used to treat visible algae. However, this "professional" grade product from Doheny instructs you to use it on visible algae growths. The result speaks for itself. I don't intend to add this product on a regular basis at a maintenance dosage. That can be costly and unnecessary. Instead, I'll just try to keep the water chemically balanced year-round. In the unlikely event I get a full-blown algae outbreak, I'll use both shock and algaecide. Doheny's Algaecide 60 is my go-to product for treating minor algae outbreaks. It works!

This stuff works as well as the other brands. My only problem was the delivery. It must have been mishandled because there was leakage inside the cardboard delivery box.

Better buy that at my pool store. Works great to a clear pool.

After 2 weeks of 105 degree days, I was seeing some algae on the walls of the pool. So got my chemicals back in balance and bought this algaecide. Algae cleared up right away and so did the water. Don't think I'll use it all the time, but did the job when I needed it.

No ugly slime here...
