DELIGHTFUL! (Lovely is the perfect word but it has been used already.)It is a WELL MADE JOURNAL with a HARD BACK cover. The soft cream pages are not the usual paper found in coloring books but the lighter weight paper found in journals. Every other page has a small coloring opportunity. Some are as simple as a single flower or butterfly and some as complex as the wishing well. There are designs that are teeny and some are not. The outside cover can be colored as well as the dark brown-gray inner liner. This is a worthy keeper of inner thoughts or quotes or little stories of your life etc.I've done about 1/3 of the little designs. Every completed picture has turned out differently as I experimented with various brand of pencils and expressed many changing moods of bright, heavy, soft, delicate, subtle, sparkly, monotone to a wild palette. Pressing firmly with your pencils and blenders will leave indentations on the other side of the paper. I use gel pens moderately and so far none have come through to the back side. I have not had the nerve to try any markers, even the Tri-plex yet. Recommend Spectrum Noir's Glitter Brush Pens in Clear Overlay for a marvelous effect.It is my INSPIRATION-TO COLOR-BOOK. Sometimes I just can't seem to start another project....8 X 11 sized page can seem a bit like a major undertaking. So I just color one little picture from this book which charges my creative juices. Then I tackle the larger coloring projects with enthusiasm.Wish it was lined? Google LINE GUIDE and print one out. Place it under the page you are writing in and the heavy lines will show through enough to maintain nice straight lines for the whole page. Keep it in your book so it is always available. This is quite a lovely journal. I absolutely adore Ms. Basford's coloring books, so I had to pre-order this as soon as I saw it. The cover is very sturdy and beautifully detailed. The edges are gilt and there's a ribbon to mark your place. The pages are off-white and are a decent weight. There are many petite drawings to color; make sure your pencils are very sharp. The only thing I was disappointed in was that the pages are unlined. However, the description doesn't state that it is lined; that was my own assumption. I think this would make a beautiful gift for any lover of Ms. Basford's artwork.I've taken some pictures, and I apologize for the quality of them. That's what happens when the cat wants to help!

This journal is beautiful. I can't wait until the New Year when I plan to start using it. The sketches are highly detailed and are begging to be colored in, items found and pictures completed.I definitely plan on ordering more as Christmas gifts for friends. I know they'll love this journal as much as I do.

I bought this journal knowing that the illustrations were tiny, but what I didn't know was how wonderful the paper quality is. It is as good, or almost as the coloring book and is the same cream color. Paper has a wonderful tooth and is fairly thick, so I have decided to create an all-in-one-place color test list for my many colored pencils, watercolor pencils, gel pens and anything else I use in my coloring books. I am very glad I got this book and recommend it highly.

I love this! I'm using it as a sketch pad. I have been using it to sketch and draw and color in. I just wished it had protective tissue sheets between the pages. But, I love it! I included a picture of a sketch of a hummingbird I did and then colored it with my colored pencils. I also colored the front and back of the book. Fun!

The paper is lush, heavy with a nice tooth for color pencils. The paper is a cream color. It’s a hard bond book with small doodles on the corners. Such a lovely journal.

I absolutely love this item. The pictures to color are just enough to add a little color touch to every other page, and there is plenty of space to write. I do wish, that the pages had very light lines to write on, but that is just me, because I have trouble keeping my lines straight when I write. Well worth the purchase.

I love this journal. It is just what I was looking for, and a great price as well. I really want to write and doodle and draw in it, but at the same time I want to 'save' it for...... what? I have no idea. I guess I see it as a special treasure for me and I want to treat it specially. The description says that there is a small sketch on each page, and they were right. It seems to be a small snippet of a large picture of hers, like the wishing well, a clump of flowers, a tree, things like that. f you are looking for a pretty journal to store your written treasures in, then I would recommend this little book. Btw, the pages are a yellow-ish, kind of faded looking format. They are not a crisp, white like some other journals. This is just for your information, not a critique.

I'm happy to have this Journal. The paper quality is lovely ... Thick, creamy, oozing quality. I really enjoy writing in here. The pages are also gold edged. It gives a feeling of my thoughts being treasures and treasured.There's a lovely satiny bookmark too.The fact that I can easily add color with the little drawings (in one corner of each double page) and that these are in different places each time is just perfect. If I had made a specification for a journal, this would be it.It ticks all my boxes.
