Is this hollow on the inside? or solid?

I'm sure, from the weight of him, that he's solid. The detailing and coloring are wonderfully realistic. Many expensive figurines are not half as good as this "toy." I have most of the Schleich African elephants and all are beautiful. (Have an Asian female and calf, too, and they are equally accurate.)

Is this the same elephant that comes in the wild life starter set?

Not sure if it comes in a set. I bought mine one piece at a time bull, cow then the calf. Great detail. Also got the zebras and giraffes.
