Mighty little welder
Super easy to use and packs a punch for the compact size. Great portable welder for portable repairs. Works great with electrodes arc welding. Have been able to weld many things and heavier gages of steel with this little work horse. Great compact design with a nice digital display. Can also be used as a lift tig with the needed attachments. So far it’s held up to some abuse and has been fairly durable. Always room for improvement but for the price you can always upgrade components later. Great for beginners and pros. Used fairly often where we need compact machine to do repairs.

Great machine to learn on
Great value, works as it should. You'll have to play with voltage because its not accurate but just a little trial and error to get it dialed. I've used this a bunch and im absolutely thrilled with this little machine. Easy to use, the connectors are high quality, the display is bright. Hot start is great with 1/8" 7018's and arc force control helps a ton to control 6011's. Highly recommended starter machine.

Works well for welding needs around my house .
Very handy and practical when you have small projects at home and to help a friend or family member, I use it for small metal repairs and on my camp, very portable and works with 110 power on a 15 or 20 amps breaker, of course safety first read well instructions and don’t let children play with it, it’s a welding machine for adults.

Lightweight but powerful
Why did you pick this product vs others?: own 5 needed another in our fleet Functionality: We use inner shield wire 0.35 for welding mild steel and 12 gauge galv the duty cycle outperforms other brands for production and the fact it is 110 Vac or 220 Vac is great. The machine works well SMAW (stick) welding process, we don't use it much that way. Value for money: great value, I had to warranty a unit and the process was simple and fast. Build quality: as well as the other types that are red or blue. the spool holder is not great best not to transport with a 10 Lb. spool on it. Size: the weight is super light its like 39 pounds with a 10 Lb. spool.

Nice Little Welder
This is my first welder, and it is a great one,. Easy to use, and it is quite sound in its making. It has many built in safety features, and comes with a nice set of instructions. I am learning to weld in a self taught way and so far so good. Watched many videos and read many books on welding. Mainly the do's and don't, the should always do, and the you should never do as well. because of the extremely high amperage used in welding, it should be taken very seriously. This machine can produce up too 145A Amps in the 110 volt mode and even more in the 220 volt mode , and it only takes a half of an amp to kill someone . So one must always be on the alert any time the machine is powered one . i am having so much fun welding stuff, especially the things i thought were broken for good, now they are fixed and working well. My welding may not be the most beautiful there is, but i think i am getting better with every day. Fun thing to have , but safety first, always . .

First class, great value.
Just got reacquainted with stick welding and welded up some 14 gauge square tubing and had better than acceptable welds. I'm very pleased and surprised that a lunch box size welder has this kind of performance and features.

Outperformed expectations and tremendous customer support
I was impressed with the performance of this machine at 110v. Even with a heavy duty extension cord and hours of use, this machine only tripped the breaker once. It performs well. The only issue I had was that the machine began having difficulty working properly at 110v setting. I would have to turn the machine off then back on a couple of times to get it to work, no problem when trying on 220v. Since I mainly use on 110v because of the convenience in being able to use at various locations, this was an issue. However, customer support is exceptional (Raymond). Responses were very rapid. After attempting to work through the issue, but still periodically having problems, a full refund was granted. I am giving this rating 5 stars considering the performance of the machine despite the issue, combined with customer service. For some reason, I cannot select 5 stars, it will only allow me to select 4.

YesWelder ARC205DS
The ARC205DS is a small, very lightweight, and capable arc welder once you get it dialed-in, it is ready to weld right out of the box with very minimal setup (ie attach ground & electrode leads to welder and plug it in), just add welding rods and steel. I tested it with 3/32" 6013 (Forney), 3/32" 7018 (Forney), & 1/8" 7018 (ESAB) on 3/16", 1/8", 1/4", & 3/8" mild steel all using 220VAC with the dial to adjust current as needed. As others have reviewed the DRO for current is off, my findings approximate it is off by as much as ~30% in some cases (ie dialed-in at 100A but actually running 70A as verified with a DC clamp meter). I found it will weld all three rod types on the thicknesses tested but likes the 7018's the best (both 3/32 & 1/8), by far...anything with 6013 seems to start very cold and once it begins running you have to pay very close attention to puddle density or blowing a hole in the work is definitely possible, at least up to 1/4" thick. In fact, once I began testing on the 1/4"+ plate w/ 7018 x1/8" rods I had the DRO on 135A and found it would scratch start "ok" and would run good beads, but if anything lower than 130A it struggled to start. Using the 6013's it also appeared to struggle with leveling out the electrode current even after start, arc headspace was critical while laying down the entire bead. In the last hour of testing I was using 7018 x 1/8" ESAB rods, DRO set to 145A on 1/4" & 3/8" plate and found it ran great, started fine, no issues. Ran butt joints, vertical ups, and lap joints just fine, penetration appeared ok...I never could get the 6013's to perform like they typically do on say a Miller or Lincoln SMAW welder, but this box doesn't have the associated cost of the other brands either. Although it took about four hours to get it dialed-in for my applications I'm happy with the cost to quality ratio for home use, if I was buying this for production I would be ultra-cautious and never go in cold on a production piece without a few test runs on comparable material. The electrode, ground, and source AC cables are very flexible but they do have a plastic (not sure it's even a PVC) insulating jacket so I would be vigilant around hot work with the cables. Some have reviewed the stinger spring as weak, but in the unit I received it's definitely not the case, plenty of tension in the 'gator jaws' and it will accept electrodes at 90 degrees, 45 degrees, and 180 degrees ( - \ | ); the ground clamp is a bit flimsy but it does have braided copper band between the teeth and is strong enough for its purpose. The little welder is impressive in terms of cranking out the amps, but it is finicky on the type of electrodes used, leveling the current during the weld (at least on the 6013's I tried), and striking the arc (again using the 6013's). Unsure why this particular YesWelder product comes in black when all of their other products appear to be painted light blue or seafoam green, could represent an older/newer product or a run made especially for Amazon, but rest assured it is just like the one pictured.

Great machine for small jobs and hobby work!
Alright, start by saying, I am out of practice on stick so it take take me some fiddlin to get back in to the groove of it. Been doing nothing but Fluxcore for 3+years right now. The Yeswelder ARC205DS-PRO from here on out shall be known as "The Machine" This machine can run on 110 and 220 thought I havent had much luck on household 110 plugs other than blowing fuses. Im running the machine off a Champion 8125/6600Watt Generator on the 240V plug and no issues supplying power. I have more than enough wattage and then some. Watts out the Wazoo The machine runs really well as a hobby or farm unit or for small side jobs like repairs or something. The duty cycle listed is 60% at 205A and 100% at 158A on the 240V plug. However I had run 5/32 6013 rods all day long one after the other without issue on "205A" (In quotes because of Below) The amperage reading on the machine is off, by quite a bit. Looking on any welding reference chart, the amperage range for 6013 3/32 rod is 40-90A and having it set to that is not working. It runs stupid cold. Fiddling with it, turns out where I need it to be is around 150 on the dial. 1/8 rods sit around 180 and the 5/32 rods sit in the 200-205A range basically maxing out the dial. Thought I'm pretty sure no where near the max of this machine because the hot start definitely goes even when maxed out and I know thats some extra amperage so I do believe I'm not anywhere the max. I believe the manufacturer knows this which is why they only seem to sell up to 5/32 rod. On to the components. You get a good length of cable for your ground clamp and your stinger. They seem to be good quality. The stinger has little grooves the clamp for positioning your stick and it holds firm. For some reason one side of the stinger clamp is covered in a very thin layer of plastic that starts chipping off after use and exposes another copper contact within. Why? I dunno. I ran 3/32, 1/8 and 5/32 6013 rods without issue from the machine. Any problems seen here were user error because again, I'm out of practice. I was welding on 3/16" carbon steel plate. Tossing down stringers and fillets. I believe I got my moneys worth for a nice machine to get me back in to stick. Aside from the amperage dial being incorrect, this machine runs like greased lightning and I think if you're looking for a cheap home unit or something to get yourself started in your welding journey, this is a great option in my opinion. The Machine is also capable of Lift-TIG welding however does not come with a TIG Torch. That is sold separately. I do not have anything to say on the TIG Capabilities on the machine and even if I did, I wouldnt because I suck at TIG, I'm even more out of practice
