## Overview

The DynaTrap DT2000XLPSR is a powerful, pesticide-free insect trap designed to protect up to 1 acre from mosquitoes, flies, wasps, gnats, and other flying insects. Utilizing a UV light combined with a titanium dioxide coating, it lures bugs into a whisper-quiet fan that traps them in a discreet, easy-to-clean basket. Its durable all-weather construction ensures continuous outdoor or indoor use, making it an essential upgrade for any millennial professional’s backyard sanctuary.

## Description

With the DynaTrap Decora Series Insect Trap, style and power combine to deliver a sleek tool for eliminating insects quickly and effectively. Three layers of protection stand between you and the insects. First, a UV fluorescent bulb generates a warm light, attracting insects. Then a second lure, an exclusive Ti02 titanium dioxide-coated surface, produces CO2 that's irresistible to mosquitoes. Third, a powerful yet whisper-quiet vacuum fan sucks insects into the retaining cage where they dehydrate and die. Empty the retaining cage every 1-2 weeks and replace the UV Bulb every 4 months or 3000 hours. This trap may be extra-large, but it is not lacking in style. Its decorative basket weave design disguises the powerful trap and allows it to blend in seamlessly with your décor. No matter the season, the durable design can withstand adverse weather conditions and still provide up to 1 acre of coverage. Includes 10 ft power cord for standard 120v outlet. The trap can be placed on a flat surface or hung from a hook to maximize coverage.

Review: Excellent Bug Repelent - I live in South Florida and mosquitoes make it impossible to be in my backyard during the Spring and Summer. I purchased the Dynatrap to be able to enjoy my patio. For those considering this unit, please know that it does not kill anything. Instead, the blue light attracts bugs and an inner fan draws the bugs into a chamber. Once the chamber is filled, you will need to empty it. I’ve had this for 2 years at the time of this review. I leave my unit plugged in 24/7. In 2 years, I’ve only emptied the chamber 4 times. I’ve replaced the bulbs about 3 times. Because this isn’t a big killer, some insects in the chamber may be alive when it’s time to empty, so I will turn off the unit in the morning and empty it later in the day. This allows for most, if not all, of the insects to die. The chamber gets a little gross, but I can clean it with a wet cloth. This works better than an electric bug zapper! I had one and it didn't control mosquitoes. Why am I reviewing now? Well, my unit was unplugged for about a week while doing some remodeling. When I was able to return to my backyard, I was swarmed my mosquitoes. I plugged in the unit and within a day, I could again enjoy the comfort of my backyard. Is this an investment? Yes, but it does exactly what it’s supposed to do. This is 10/10
Review: It’s so effective that it might be too good! - If you absolutely detest all flying insects, this is the solution for you. I say that because I personally don’t hate ALL, I only want to kill mosquitoes. This trap is a true TERMINATOR of all flying insects - although that sounds and is great for the most part, I have a concern about what it might do to the micro ecosystem around my home: 1. It traps the good insects that have a role in local fauna 2. It starves frogs, lizards, and reptiles that feed off flying insects 3. It attracts predators that can see and smell the live and dead bugs Again, if you aim to destroy all flying insects in your yard, this is the only solution I have used that actually works. For best results, follow the recommendations: keep far away from people, place in low light area (works best at night) so keep away from yard lights that will compete for the attention of bugs, clean often. The bad: cleaning it is EASY but the smell of dead / rotting bugs is really STRONG. It kills the bugs via starvation and they pile up after a couple of days (the pictures in my review are the results after ONE NIGHT). As you can see, it is highly effective. This trap works best in low light, high bug volume conditions. I am very happy with the results but have mixed feelings about what it’s doing to the wildlife that feeds on the bugs - I am not sure if I want my neighbors to jump in on this since the bugs and reptiles are headed their way!

## Questions & Answers

**Q: We raise honey bees, will it kill them?**
A: I have one next to my bee yard . ZERO bees attracted. NO affect on bees . It doesnt bring bees to a house . There sre other reasons .Very affective on Wax moths and hive beatles.SEERIOUSY! Immediate downn ppopulation of female mosquitos . Males are vegetarian. This allso combats HEARTWORM as kills the carrier mosquiro between dogs. Big affect on mosquito larve wigglers. They also combat insects in gardehs. Inherent in UV TiO2 there is a drop in UV output where should replace bulb every three months to keep CO2 poduction. It still attracts other insects. With CO2 also slight increase in H2O and heat helps attract female mosquitos . CO2 long range other up close . No I don't own stock, yet.

**Q: I don’t want to catch moths. Does the unit work without the light?**
A: No, the light is what is used to attract bugs. You can try to use an octenol based mosquito attractant on the unit, but I don’t know if it would really work. I personally don’t mind killing every bug but if you want to be discriminate in killing bugs, you will need to get something like a mosquito magnet, or even better, get a thermacell which you keep near you and it is incredibly effective at repelling mosquitos.

**Q: Will this attract and kill fireflies?**
A: Yes. If its attracted to blue light, it will get drawn in. but they might not be killed right away. My wife doesnt like that it draws in moths, so every morning she lets the moths out.

**Q: How are the bulbs to be installed?**
A: Turn the unit off, unplug and allow unit a minute to cool. Use the included screwdriver to remove the screws on the plastic cover on both ends of the bulbs. Remove the clear plastic cover by squeezing the tabs and pulling downward. Repeat this process on the other side of the bulbs. Turn bulb counter clockwise and pull straight down. Remove both bulbs. Insert new bulb into the socket, twist clockwise until secure. plug the unit in and turn it on to test that the bulbs are now working. If they do not come on, unplug the unit and remove the bulbs and try to re-seat them again. If the bulbs come on, then re-attach the bulb cover.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Effective for light-seeking insects, but less so for mosquitos
*by M***T on October 6, 2021*

I live in an area with an enormous caddisfly population. Every summer, my neighbors and I cannot leave outside lights on, or a swarm of caddisflies will descend on them. They don't bite, but they're a major nuisance. This DynaTrap has absolutely devastated their population. When I first set it up this summer, I was having to empty the hopper on this every couple of days because it was filling up. It was an absolutely mind-boggling amount of dead bugs to deal with. A few things I wish I knew about this before I bought it, though. First, this thing is a lot bigger than it looked. It's got to be about 2' tall and maybe 18" wide. Second -- the science on these things generating CO2 to attract bugs is somewhat immature, to put it mildly. There is some question about whether it actually generates any CO2, and you'll notice that DynaTrap's website never really goes into depth about this. You'd think it wouldn't be too hard to find an independent lab to show measurable CO2 production, but they have not. For flying insects drawn to light, this works great. I haven't carefully studied the mounds of dead bugs, but I haven't noticed a decrease in the local mosquito population. Products like the Mosquito Magnet are so effective because mosquitos are drawn to heat and CO2. Some bugs, like my caddisflies, are simply drawn to light, and the light and moderate heat this produces works great for them. Efficacy against mosquitos seems unproven. I actually bought this specifically for mosquitos and was disappointed; I still get bit at night. But this has been extremely effective at taking out other bugs, so I'm happy enough with it.
