Buyer Beware - Caveat Emptor
A have purchased three of these Medisonic units over the last two years to gain speed moving from two of their USB 3.1 Gen 1 units. I just up graded my computer to a XXXX Intel I-9 13,900K chip rated at 6.0Ghz, with 64GB of 5600 memory. Unfortunately, with the older USB 3.1 Gen 1 slower units I was getting 200-250Mbps transfer speed and with these three newer and faster USB-C Gen 2 units I am only getting 40Mbps utilizing three different USB-C ports on my new computer.I have sent an email to both sales and support at Mediasonic and I have not heard a reply from either. There is absolutely no phone support or even chat support.I have contacted Amazon and I am returning as many of the units as they will let me return. The 10Gbps as advertised could not be further from the truth.

WD Drives
Mannnnn, I wanted to like this one SO much. I own several of the regular USB 3.0 Mediasonic 8-bay enclosures (exactly like this, but USB 3.0 not USB 3.1), they have been absolutely flawless all these years. Literally not a single problem.So I figured this USB 3.1 would be the same perfection I've had previously. Unfortunately, it didn't work and there's 2 primary reasons:Reason #1. Western Digital Drives. If you put any WD drives in it, they won't get recognized (unless you do the PIN Header trick). Normally that wouldn't be a big deal but these drives run perfectly in my 3.0 Mediasonic enclosure, but not this 3.1.Reason #2. Windows. The moment I turn this enclosure on (without any drives inside) Windows says it finds 4 empty drives. Now if I put in 3 drives, it'll say it found 7 drives (4 empty and 3 drives I plugged in). On Mac, it doesn't do that.Luckily I was able to troubleshoot in multiple ways (I have different drives, different PC's, Mac's, and difference enclosures). So what I said above happens all around regardless.Now I thought, well maybe it's the enclosure itself (it was re-furbished), so I bought a 2nd one (re-furbished too), same exact issues.Now as far as everything else... works like a charm. It is indeed USB 3.1, 10Gbps, and it is BLAZING fast. I absolutely love Mediasonic, this hiccup would never prevent me from buying from them in the future (hence why I'm giving them 4/5 stars instead of 1/5 stars).I'm not even mad, just really sad. I wanted this to work so bad. So here's hoping they get a newer version that works, I'll be all over it. Love you Mediasonic, keep up the good work, this is simply a bump in the road.

Lost connection while running.
The transfer speed is acceptable, I can ignore the noise. but its annoying when it keep losing the connection with Hdd while using it, every 20 or 30 mins.

Fast but spotty
I have USB 3.0 bay enclosures and I have this Mediasonic that is 3.1. There is a noticeable speed difference of around 2X. It is sleek but a little large. If power goes out and comes back, the unit will automatically be on ready for your computer to boot. Those are the pluses, now for the negatives. The LED lights are too bright, you have to cover them if the unit is in a room where people sleep. Drives will intermittently drop and come back online. I have found this most often when copying large files. I don’t get many errors with reading from the unit, but writing to it often causes problems. I have had the unit for 2 months or so and it hasn’t gotten any worse.

Keep shutting off
It keeps shutting off & restart.I try to update drivers and everything....It still randomly lost connection and restart.

Do not waste your money, it has major flaws
after a few months to a year, it start disconnecting, freezing your computer until it can communication, i am using windows 11 and this device is not user friendly. i contacted tech support, they asked my model #'s 3 months ago and haven't responded to any of my follow message TECH SUPPORT IS TRASH! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY
