It works instantly out of the box. I've had them for a few months now and there are no issues so far. I keep one in my bedroom to tell me how humid the area is in there because I've had a lot of bloody noses recently when I wake up. And I keep one and my 3D printer room so that I know how dry it is in there. The display is very clear and easy to read. It is about the size of a 50-cent piece in circumference.
