I'm writing a dissertation on German Expressionism, and this little companion has been most helpful in helping me to understand the qualities inherent in a German Expressionist film, with analysis of renowned Expressionist films and directors including Nosferatu, Caligari, Metropolist, Pandora's Box, FW Murnau, Fritz Lang, etc and more.The Short Cuts series always produced brilliant subject introductions and this is no exception, so for anyone interested in film history, and especially German Expressionism, this is a must read.
