Daniel Boone (Classics Illustrated)

I live near Boone's supposed grave. There is controversy about who is actually in the grave.I bought this to give a younger friend, who was not around to see the old, even less accurate, TV show.It gives a outline of his life, suitable for a child or poorly educated or stupid adult.

Great for kids in middle school! Highly recommend. Now too bad Hollywood would not make real movies again like these stories westerns! American history.

This is the first book I ever read as a kid on Daniel Boone many moons ago. I probably have half a dozen books on his life and adventures now, but this is still one of m favorites. I think the reason I like it above the others is John Backless style of writing, it flows and he has a great knack of putting the story together without it becoming stilted. There are many great books out there about Daniel Boone but no matter which one you have this is a must to get in my opinion. The ones out there written in resent years have a few more updated facts, which of course is interesting to know, but this is still a great read!

I love history and Daniel Boone has always been a child hero of mind also I collect books of Daniel Booneand research everything on him.

This seems to be a definitive and reliable work on Daniel Boone.

Bakeless's work has been eclipsed by the new biography by Robert Morgan, but for years it stood alone as scholars and writers focused on the American Revolution in other theaters and left the frontier to legend. This was the first book I read on Boone and it is still worth reading as it has not been tainted by the politically correct pressures that affect modern writers - including Morgan.
