Technical details say length is 3 ft. That is NOT the total length.No information on the thread size at the bottom--important to plumbers and DIY homeowners.

Got what I expected
Well made product. I love the design and how easy to use is. 4-star for installation because you have to dig a 3 foot hole and you really need to make a mess before you can install it. Worth the effort though.

Exact replacement for 30YO Simmons hydrant!
Fit perfectly. Even had to use the old unit's bottom fitting since it would not come off of the pipe and was too deep to re-work. Works perfectly. Simmons customer service is great!

Quality Made Functional Hydrant
I purchased this unit to replace an identical unit. I left my existing pipe in the ground and screwed the head rest of the unit into it and it works perfectly. I failed to replace a worn rubber plunger that shuts off the water underground and caused the head to freeze and break. I would recommend the Simmons unit above some others. I purchased a similar one from Lowe's, but didn't fit my purpose but was clearly much lighter weight and not nearly as well made.
