A gem of a score from Ron Goodwin.
Okay, I admit I haven't seen this movie nor even heard of it. That didn't stop me from checking out this score by the great Ron Goodwin (Where Eagles Dare, Battle of Britain). I wasn't sorry I did. It's a beautiful score mixed with some exciting dramatic music. I do recommend this score. You won't regret it.

Utterly enjoyable
This is a fantastic translation, reading, and recording. The language is dynamic and vivid. The plot is engaging and suspenseful. The recording is high-quality. And the reading! The actor seems to love the material, relishing the rhymes and rhythm, building suspense, indulging in the visual details and the sensuality. It made me love this story (except for some of the hunting bits, which can't be helped) more than I expected. A must-listen.

I read this after taking a course on medieval history because it was mentioned, expecting to suffer through it. It was wonderfully descriptive. Be prepared to get caught up in what once was the rage of Europe, chivalric romance, as long as you will allow yourself to go with the flow and slip back 700 years to another time and another way of thinking and living. Tough reading for those who have not flexed their literary muscles on Shakespeare, etc, but not impossible.

Enjoyable tale that I had not heard before
This is a poem from the late 14th century about an adventure of one of the Knights of the Round Table that I had not heard before. This is from a translation from the Middle English into Modern English by Benedict Flynn. This poem uses alliteration instead of rhyming and I think the translator did an excellent job. It was very easy to understand and the alliterations were not too overpowering. The reader, Jasper Britton, also did an excellent job. It was very enjoyable to listen to. I recommend this short audio book to anyone interested in hearing a seldom-told tale from the life of Sir Gawain. The morals taught were quite interesting and are an example of chivalrous thought.

Excellent!
This is excellent. The word-imagery is intense and engaging, and the clarity, timing and rhythm of the reading made my long commute fly by.I am new to this kind of literature, and have as yet no reference to compare it to. My enjoyment of this audio book will make me seek out more like it.

Very good
Excellent audio book. Very good reading and translation of the poem. Very lively and easy to understand because of the Modern English.

The Minstrel Returns
Turn the lights down low & imagine you are in the presence of a wandering storyteller who recounts the tale to you of Sir Gawain & the Green Knight. Be transported into the world of Camelot as Gawain goes on his quest & like all myths there is a mystery riddle which may bring about a greater clarity, once one had understood a little. The poem is spoken with a Yorkshire accent & the words flow across the room weaving magic of a mythic past when things seemed to be tested as the Roman Empire deteriorated into the dark ages, it was just another movement of the people as the Romans left but the Saxon's flowed in.This CD was money well spent; it should be heard in all schools in the land.

A pleasure and wonder
The description of this item is wrong in many places. This is the translation by Benedict Flynn and it is stunning. Performed professionally and with energy by Jasper Britton, it is a pleasure to hear.
