Decent Book So Far
I bought this book used for my daughter's Christmas since we do books only. I was initially disappointed by no pictures, but since my 8 year old daughter reads extremely well and has an open mind, I think that I can use this to allow her to think about ingredients versus imagery. Recipes look great! Plenty of desserts. Book does have oils though.I will update after my daughter starts cooking.

One of My Most Used Cookbooks
I have been cooking from VLV since my oldest son was a baby. He's almost 8 years old now, so I thought it was high time to finally sit down and write a review for this fabulous cookbook. What I love the most about this book is that the ingredients are healthy, the recipes are quick and easy, and the prep time is minimal. Not to mention the fact that every recipe I've made (and I've made quite a few!) has been absolutely delicious. From the breakfast chapter, the Apple Oat and Banana Bliss Pancakes are staples in our home. You may be tempted to avoid the Millet-Amaranth Porridge in the chapter because it might sound too "healthy" - but don't! It's SO delicious. My family of four devours it. It's comfort in a bowl, and a nice change of pace from oatmeal. Plus, it's a good way to introduce two grains that, if you're like me, stare at you from your cupboard every time you open it because you don't know what to do with them. :)The Muffins and Baked Goods section of my book has lots of splatters in it from all the use it has gotten. I turn to it often when I want to make something sweet, but still good-for-you. I know the Banana Oat Bundles and Blueberry Bounty Buns recipes by heart. They are so darn tasty, and great for breakfasts on the go or to stick in a lunchbox as a treat. The Cannellini Bean Yam Hummus is so good and I often serve it to guests. I do not buy store bought hummus any more because there really is no comparison once you've made this. Also, the Lemon-Herb Tofu is luscious. Other dishes in constant rotation in our house are the Chipotle Corn Black Bean Soup, Chickpea Ratatouille, Chipotle Veggie-Bean Burritos (one of my absolute favorites, especially with the Creamy Avocado Cashew sauce- mmmm!), Rosemary Seasoned Tofu Balls, and Veggie Stirfry with Spicy Almond Sauce.Worth the price of the book alone are the Chocolate P-Nut Butter Squares. They are out of this world. Decadent yet healthy (odd to use those two words together, but it's the truth!) her desserts satisfy but don't leave you feeling weighed down. The brownies are perfect, and her Chocolate Chip Cookies are to die for.Thank you, Dreena, for all the wonderful recipes and for helping me to feed my family well.

Mmmmmm
So far, I have tried four recipes from this book- Brownies, Double Chocolate Explosion Cookies, Tomato Lentil Pasta Sauce, Pumpkin-Seed Coated Lentil Patties with Ginger Dipping Sauce. The Double Choc. Cookies have a slightly grainy texture - This is easy to fix - but still, everything was delicious. One should purchase this book just for the brownie recipe. My advice is to get some elastic waistband pants as well, as you will never eat just one piece. Your family will fall into bliss comas. The two savoury dishes were exciting to the palate, a great balance of sweetness and zip that makes you reach for more. Dreena has a gift for combining flavours, a bit of a spice alchemist, I'd say. In this time when eating animal products is such a detriment to our environment, a book like this that demonstrates that eating meat-free can be exciting and satisfying is a gift to our planet and bellies.

Simple, Interesting & Delicious
My husband and I have tried so many recipes from this book and we are always pleased with the results. I love the variety of grains that Dreena uses and that she doesn't rely heavily on soy products in her recipes. I also appreciate that many of her recipes are wheat free, as I like the nutritional value from diverse grains. But best of all, the recipes are simple to make and they are simply scrumptious! Tonight we had the Chipotle Veggie-Bean Burritos. We also love her Hummus Tortilla Pizza and Sunny Southwestern Squash Pizza. The Sunflower-Lentil Pie is delicious. Plus, her desserts are the absolute best!Dreena's conversational style and fun, nutritious recipes make this book an enjoyable guide to vegan eating. I very strongly recommend this cookbook to anyone who loves unique and delicious recipes. The chapter on feeding your baby and toddler is an added bonus.

Vive le Vegan!
Having just turned to the Vegan Diet, I was at a loss of what and how to prepare my meals. This is more than a "cook book"., but more of a life style with delicious recipes that are easy to prepare. Each recipe I have tried, even my non-vegan hubby, loves them, and that is saying something for a meat and potato man. I Love that she explains the terms of the unfamiliar ingredients. A person winds up with a new vocabulary, a new way to shop, a new way to cook and the instilled desire to grow your own Veggies! Trust me, take it one step at a time, no overloading yourself and you will be able to stick with this Life Style and begin to feel life returning to your body. Of the 3 books I purchased, this is my favorite!

Easy, Tasty recipes for all
I just got this cookbook last week and have already made about 10 dishes in it. The main dishes are straight forward good weeknight meals that i have enjoyed, but what I love are all of the baked goods, dips and snacks. These are the kinds of vegan recipes I have been looking for. I like the dips and energy bars and muffins. The desserts are delicious, and have no refined sugars. They are not health food by any means, but I love cookies and easy desserts to have around the house so this is a perfect fit for me. I also really enjoyed the information on hemp foods, something I had not seen before. I highly recommend this book and will be purchasing "The Everday Vegan" for myself right away.

Great plant-based cookbook
I really like Dreena Burton's recipes. They are easy, healthy and plant-based. This book is great except that there are no pictures. I find that is helpful in enticing me and so I can browse through faster. However I did note that sometimes it was helpful to reference her website to find a bit more help (like when I was a bit unclear about what the phyllo pie should look like). I am eager to make more recipes in this book.

A great Vegan Cookbook author
Dreena has some great cookbooks & this one is no exception. So far I have made the lemon herb tofu, rosemary tofu balls, lemon rosemary potatoes & chocolate peanut butter squares. All have been delicious & it was worth the price of the book for just these. The only part of the book not relevant to me is the section on feeding your vegan baby or toddler, however I am sure some people would find this really useful.
