For size reference, I’m 5’3”, generally wear Small / size 2 or 4 depending on brand, style, etc. Bought a S in this and it fit fine. Definitely not ultra snug, rather pretty loose. At first I was really disappointed, thinking that as a base layer it was supposed to be like 2nd skin, and considered returning it but didn’t have time before leaving for a trip in a couple days. In the end, I’m happy about the fit. I think an XS would’ve felt too constrictive and the waistband definitely too uncomfortably snug. I had no trouble slipping on some jeans (regular/straight fit, not skinny leg or anything) or some rather thick/heavy-weight leggings over these - although I had to do a little tugging and pulling on these bottoms when trying to slide the leggings on to get the bottoms to stay in the proper position.The material is extremely thin, like hosiery. I wondered how it could possibly do its job of keeping me warm but it did its job to the fullest. Plus although it may have the appearance and thinness of hosiery, fortunately it FEELS nothing like hosiery. I wouldn’t have been able to tolerate that feel. But these bottoms are wicked soft and smooth, not at all scratchy or having that wire scouring-pad feel of hosiery. I also really liked that this was thin enough to take up very little space for packing as we were trying to travel light.I’m really glad I decided to keep it. The bottoms turned out to be fantastic for a cold weather vacation, worn as a base layer. I was happy as a clam wearing them almost every day during a 9-day trip in 40-45 F temps. I’ve always lived in balmy FL and have no clue how to dress properly for cold weather, but staying warm was a big deal for me to be able to enjoy the trip so I was really putting a lot of confidence in this article of clothing and it actually came through! It’s only a base layer - and a lightweight one at that - so to reiterate, naturally I had jeans or heavy leggings over it but honestly I think it was the base layer that made all the difference in being able to stay warm. I’m thrilled that it worked out.FYI I ordered the matching top (Terramar Women's Thermasilk Pointelle Scoop neck) with the same satisfactory result, as well as a MIDweight base layer set (32Degrees Women's Heat Thermal top and bottoms) for the slightly cooler days (30-40 F).

I chose these because the reviews stated that the fabric is very sheer and thin. Perfect for my needs! On a winter trip to northern Finland I wore alpaca leggings and these Thermasilks were the perfect barrier to avoid any itching or scratchiness from the alpaca fibers and to provide an extra layer for warmth. You don't even know you're wearing them. I'm sensitive to tight elastic waist bands and these were very comfortable. I traveled with a carryon and backpack and these Thermasilks took up VERY little space in the suitcase. Very happy!

The sheerness does create the potential for snags. No runs or rips yet after 1 month use almost everyday.Easy to rinse out and hang to dry. Dries overnight.

A decade ago and more we used to have real winters around NYC where in Jan and Feb temps would drop below 25 often, and sometimes even get to 10 or below 5f esp at night. If you worked outside or travelled outside often you needed these to be comfortable. This year I had a hunch we'd be hit with a sharp cold spell at some point and I'd need these.. luckily my gut was right. 3 weeks after ordering the temp drop hit and I was prepared! This has been my go to brand forever since they're soft, tough, keep warmth in, are well designed and affordable. They can last a few seasons if you care for them properly.

I love these pants! They are lightweight and fit well under clothing. This is for weather that is around the low 40s or 30s under pants or a long skirt. If you need something warmer, I would suggest layering this under a wool thermal as it will not only provide added warmth but comfort against scratchy wool layers. This is not going to keep you warm under any type of lightweight pant if the weather is below 30. It will keep the edge off, but don't expect it to function for frigid weather. It's silk. It's a base layer that is light enough for moderate weather and works as a base layer under woolens for extreme cold.Because of the tightly woven silk, it is going to work better than polyester tights, or in my opnion, even fleece lined tights. The silk is much more comfortable and easy.These do run large. I suggest going a size down.

These have been my every day thermal layer during the winter for about 15 years. They are super thin silk that does a great job wicking and managing temp. I’ve had to replace them every 3-5 years or so, which seems very reasonable. (they get holes after extensive wear and cleaning.) they’ve doubled in price in the past 5 years unfortunately, but still a great deal and great quality.

These got a run in them within the month I bought them. They could use a little more stretch to the fabric.I would size up to avoid them running.

These base layers are well made, warm, soft and comfortable. I practically lived in them when it was cold outside, washed them often according to the label parameters, and they’ve held up very well.One thing to know is silk doesn’t retain warmth if it gets wet, so wear your merino under rain gear or for heavy exertion.Otherwise, these are totally perfect.

Absolutely wonderful. They are so soft and so light they go under my jeans without adding any bulk. I could tell that I was warmer wearing this then without. I am extremely happy with my purchase.
