Its perfect for starting chicks in a brooder. I use a large cardboard box with hardware cloth taped to the sides so we can watch 'em and be entertained. Its half the price of big box store kits and works perfectly to start out for a few weeks. Nothing works perfect for new chicks since they will hop all over everything you put in there. Pop on it too. Once they get big enough you'll want to come up with something they can't scratch food out of and nipple waters. These are small so they don't take up much floor space in the brooder box. I can't see why anyone would have any negatives unless they just have never had chicks before and expect perfection for the few bucks it costs. If your new, this is all you need. Works for chicks

Although they are cheap plastic, and arent meant for long term, abuse.. They served there purpose well for 6 weeks.. We still use the lamp, feeders were a little flimsy and can be difficult to refill or clean and put back together.. But you get what you pay for.. i now have a chick set up..

Just about everything I needed to get started with my chicks

This arrived on time and in great condition. I would recommend to the vendor to add a thermometer to the kit as temperature control is important in the brooder. But it all assembled easily and quickly. It does a great job keeping a warm environment for the chicks.

Very cheaply made plastic feeder and waterer. The book is a pamphlet with silly information, not an educational book on caring for chicks like I was hoping to give to my kids. The bulb was intact but the light was banged up and bent despite being in a perfectly undamaged box so it was like that before packing. The best part was the chick feeder (the rectangular feeder) as it helps reduce waste from the chicks scratching. Otherwise, not a great purchase. I bought better quality construction feeder and water separately. Pretty much everything would have been better and about the same price to buy separately.

Love this kit!! Everything is easy to use and easy to set up. Perfect for the beginner like me! I did end up swapping the heat lamp for a heat plate because the lamps scare me and I can't regulate the chicks heat as well with it- I either get it to hot or cold. Everything was exactly as described and I will end up reusing this set over and over again

The pamphlets are informational. The brooder light is very hot, but more of a painted red spot on a clear light, rather than a true red glass bulb. This is good for the first few days, maybe longer if you just have a couple and if you have larger bedding. For me, I use hemp bedding and it matches the food and due to the small size the chicks kept kicking the bedding into their food and water. Maybe with a straw or large shaving bedding they would stay cleaner.
