Who can resist a globetrotting penguin?! Authentic, fun and fact packed.
We were delighted to make the acquaintance of a globetrotting penguin in this gorgeously illustrated guide to 28 of the world’s most vibrant and diverse cities. My daughter and I loved spotting Penguin on each page, as he travelled from city to city. Having grown up in London, it was a joy to see many of my favourite childhood excursions and learn some great fun facts about how the city was built. And I was glad to see Pie and Mash made an appearance too!I absolutely loved my time in New Zealand, and it was great showing my daughter Auckland. Maggie has paid so much attention to the detail of the region and the important cultural references as well as the iconic landmarks. Maggie’s illustration of the Maori people’s canoes (wakas) and meeting place (marae) took me right back to when I visited Waitangi in Northland.Maggie has found a great balance between old and new, facts and fun, and most importantly the little details that people from the city appreciate. Big City Atlas is a book my family will cherish for years and years.Book reviewed on PictureBookPerfect.*I received a complimentary copy of this book, which I voluntarily reviewed. This review contains my honest unbiased opinion.

A great introduction to some of the world’s most historic cities
Book Boy Jr loved the combination of interestingly illustrated maps of each city, featuring some of the main landmarks, accompanied by fact boxes dotted around the outside. The layouts were uncluttered and contained the perfect amount of reading for young globetrotters to absorb. There’s plenty to spot and enjoy on every page. Some have special ‘find it’ challenges where readers are invited to hunt for certain landmarks or hidden details. And of course, Penguin is there guiding you every step of the way.D91D021B-A099-4A4B-8D10-9613D222FCD8A good range of cities are represented – you’ve got the big-hitters like Moscow, London and New York, but also some less usual picks such as Seoul or Dublin. This book is a great introduction to some of the most historic and impressive cities of our world. I’d recommend these for readers aged 7+
