The rope pull was broken on my lawn mower so my boyfriend suggested buying this item and installed it in no time. First pull mower started right up.

I have a DR that the pull rope would not engage. The two little flippers that kick out were worn out. I matched my motor model to this one and it was a perfect match. It takes 5 screws to remove the old part and install this one. I got a new rope, spring a new assembly for a very good price. The DR string trimmer started right up! Highly recommend. Easy to install. Don’t mess with replacing the working parts. If the two flippers are not engaging then your rope and rope hole are probably worn out as well. Made my day!

Very easy installation. It comes in a plain box, no frills, and is "made in China."While this is not an official Briggs & Stratton product, it fits my mower perfectly and so far has worked perfectly. I've only mowed my half acre yard once since I installed it, so I don't know about durability. However, prior to purchasing this one I bought an official recoil starter from the Briggs & Stratton store on Amazon (for twice the price) and the pawl plate broke within 20 minutes of usage and 5 cranks. This one has already outlasted the name brand and the pawl plate looks sturdier. Time will tell. But this one is half the price of the same part from the B&S store on Amazon which is half what the B&S website sells it for.

This has to be the worst-made mower part ever. I can mow my lawn in less than an hour, so I'm not using my mower for hours and hours each time I mow. Still this part failed catastrophically the 4th time I used my mower after install. When I say "catastrophically," I mean it disintegrated while the mower was running. It blew the cover off of the mower. Parts flew everywhere, one just missing me. When I disassembled the top of the mower to get the pieces out, I found that most of the teeth and other connection parts on the top of the flywheel were broken off. It destroyed my lawnmower; now I have to go spend hundreds of dollars to replace my mower. I suggest you do not buy this part or any other part from this company. Not only will you probably waste your money, but also you might have to replace your mower.

Not the same quality as the original part, but it's a direct bolt on and it works well.Edit to change to a 2 star - second time using the mower after installing and it won't engage most of the time.
