Year of the Doodle: 365 Drawing, Collaging, and Mark-Making Adventures

I absolutely love this book it not only has a prompt everyday for doodling it also let's you know what day it is if you follow the outlines. You can start it any where by knowing the present date and then every day you doodle your drawings, which in my case then inspires me to write or draw. I am both a graphic designer and a writer. There fore doodling not only relieves tension and stress but also gives me prompts for writing. I absolutely am using it as a scrap/doodle/inspiration/writing book and it's wonderful. I love it. There are no days listed just dates so I received mine on the 15th of October and that's the day I started with, therefore every day since then I have doodled, added stickers, embelishments etc.... What a fun time, like other prompt books but just for doodling not drawing or writing but doodling, you know the thing you do when your bored if you happen to have a pen and paper handy.

This is just a perfect fun book for those who like to Doodle. It is a cleaver book that gets you to create using the cute prompts on each page. This would make a great gift for people who like to Doodle. I like using it as a 10 minute or less starter to get my creative juices going before I do my Mixed media Art. It is well worth the inexpensive price.

I am enjoying this book so much -- the prepped pages and the prompts make it so easy to just dive in and get doodling. The daily amount of space is completely doable, and this is a great choice for kids, novices, and professionals. The paper quality is good, and will hold up to a variety of media. There is a clear glossary of art materials -- how they can be used and where they can be found that many will find helpful. Here are several of my responses to the days' prompts.

This book is adorable with its fun backgrounds already provided. You just add your own art each day. This book is not in print anymore. Got mine here via Good Will. Please Dawn Sokol make more of these!!!

I'm enjoying this book so much! I wanted to work on an art journal but I'm an amateur artist so I felt the whole idea wouldn't work for me. Thanks to this book, I'm having a great time journaling! You don't have to produce great art. Just get started and enjoy the process.

Not a big fan. Would have been better if I saw it in person first or if Amazon still had the Look Inside feature which seems to have disappeared. If I'd flipped through it I would not have gotten it. I was actually expecting more prompts for doodling. Or more detailed. Many spaces are empty or there's a quote about art vs a daily prompt. I am not a natural doodler, but I dabble in art journaling and want to work on doodling skills. Glad I bought it used through an Amazon seller. I also thought that it would be more generic. It is set up to follow the calendar year. Not a deal breaker, I guess I can just start part way in on the current date. I simply thought from the description that it would have 365 prompts/spaces, but not necessarily listing the month & day. I am sure this works for a lot of people. Even most people. It's just hard to buy art books like this online. You really can't be sure that you are getting what you want/expect. I have another book on doodling and will probably use it for prompts and inspiration to fill in the blank days until I get more natural with it. This would probably be great for someone who is already inclined to doodling naturally and thus does not need much more than some time and space. The intro on supplies is really good and might be helpful for someone who doodles, but doesn't do art. Art journalers and mixed media people will be familiar with the supply list, but many people might find great new favorite products.

Great book for trying to do something creative each day. The prompts are simple, but broad enough that you can do whatever comes to mind. Plus, the pages all have some sort of mark on them that provides a great jumping off spot for many of the prompts

I’m very happy with this book! I love all the pages, I love that the author is on Instagram and responded to my message. I have doodled every day and colored them in and it’s making a very lovely memoir for 2020

I got exactly what I expected. No delays. I am an artist who specializes in drawing house and building portraits. I have no patience with collages and I am not very confident drawing objects other than buildings. I bought this book to help loosen me up artistically without stressing out about whether nor not the drawing is perfect. I love this book. It forces me out of my comfort zone. I am drawing things that I never thought I would even attempt to draw like people and abstracts. Because you are suppose to do a drawing a day you don't time to worry about how perfect it is, you just do it. Also the space is small so you can't get caught up doing a large drawing. I have used watercolours, pens and coloured pencils. The paper holds up well and doesn't bleed. Creatively, it has inspired me to look at drawing in a different way. I just finished all the exercises in the book. It took me a little longer than a year because of other commitments but I did complete it. Looking back to when I began, I can, honestly, say that I improved as an artist. I took more risks at an artist and I am not so afraid of failing or that something looks bad. All in all it was an enjoyable experience

I absolutely love this book. Started over alle month ago andere still drawing in it every day. Most days are guided with a prompt or a quote. Some days with a little doodle. I like mixed media so I also use watercolor, stamps, handlettering and collage which work wonderful on the paper as well. The pages are thick enough. Layout is beautiful with nice and colored backgrounds. Enough space for every day. I ordered from thet Netherlands and delivery was fast. Ican't only recommend this book!

I love this book. I usually add my own art , mixed media , colour etc ( see photo) and I don’t necessarily use the doodle prompts at inspiration but the creative layout of the pages works for me as a starting point .
