Rock Band 4 Pro-Cymbals Expansion Drum Kit

I've been a long time Rock Band fan since the first iteration, but this is the first time I've come around to getting the cymbal expansions as I did not own them for the previous entries. If you thought the drums were getting stale, you are in for quite a treat! The setup was a bit confusing as the instruction manual doesn't do a good job explaining how to attach them, but I figured it out after trial and error for about 30 minutes. Adding on the cymbals basically gives you another 4 levels of difficulty as it gives access to the Pro difficulty which is broken down into the normal (Easy, Medium, Hard, and Expert). I started out at Pro-Medium because I usually play Hard for normal drums. Adding the 3 extra cymbals to the mix actually creates quite the challenge, and I won't be moving onto Pro-Hard/Expert for a while until I get the cymbals down pat. It makes it closer to the real thing which I appreciate. The price is a bit steep, but if you have the money and want more of a challenge to enhance your Rock Band experience, this is the way to go! You will not be disappointed. I purchased these for the Xbox One version of Rock Band 4 for reference.

There really isn't a lot that needs to be said about this product. Like the other RB cymbal sets this product allows you to play the pro drum mode inside RB4. KEEP IN MIND THAT THIS PRODUCT WILL ONLY WORK ON RB4 DRUM KITS. It will not work on any previous RB drum kit AND it will not work on the previous generation of consoles. The cymbals are loud but is not a problem in my headphone setup. They from what I can tell do not drop notes so they essentially do their job. I knocked off one star because I find it a little disturbing that not only did they launch far off the release of the game but that they are priced pretty high for what I think they are. Regardless if you want to play pro mode for drums and you do not already have access to previous cymbal sets (older sets WILL WORK on a RB4 kit) then you are pretty much forced to get this set.

These are so much fun. Set up was easy and had no problems what so ever. They seem durable so far and I occasionally hit them really hard. The only thing I can complain about is that the hits don't always register but that isn't really the products fault because the drums are Bluetooth and not wired. I would suggest calibrating the whole kit again after attaching the cymbals.

My eight year old self would be so proud that I finally got the pro symbols for my favorite rock band instrument. During COVID it’s probably hard to find but if you use a site like “camel camel camel” you can track this pricing and get it pretty cheap. I bought mine for $35 at the beginning of 2020 so it’s defiantly doable. Don’t pay the $235 for the one sold here now. Wait for another seller to sell used and grab it cheap.The product itself is fantastic, not super easy to install but with some trial and error or a YouTube video you can get it perfect. I love mine and I’m happy with the quality, they don’t seem to be deteriorating at all after each use and I really whack these guys. If you can get this at a good price, I recommend it.

I am on my second set of these and the second set already has two cymbals that have stopped registering, and as others have said the edges of the cymbals are already starting to tear. After having to purchase a second set thinking we needed to just be a bit more gentle, we were very careful with just hitting the cymbals to register the hits and not getting to "over excited". Both the green and yellow cymbals have stopped registering most hits now, and the edges of all three are starting to wear. I've had them for about a month. When I contacted MadCatz after the second set crapped out on me, they asked for my receipt and then rather than just replacing them, they wanted me to send them back to see if they could be repaired. That might work for the hits not registering, but that won't address the tearing around the edges. Also, I don't see why I should have to pay to ship this big box of cymbals back to them when I've already had to pay for two sets of these cymbals in as many months. They are fun for the short time they worked, but I won't be giving this company anymore of my hard earned money. Will add pictures later if able.

I recently purchased Rock band 4 for Xbox one. I have owned all previous rock band games but only ever used the standard drums. There is a little assembly required to get it all hooked on to the drum stand. Once clipped on the cymbals all plug in with color coded plugs so that is easy. It took me a few songs to get the heights right for each one but a simple twist and they can be adjusted. When I loaded the first song there is no extra setup in game just select pro drums and away you go. They really do add a lot to the game play. If your like me most songs on expert are easy enough but with the pro options it was a definite learning curve but breathed new life into the game. I highly recommend these to anyone.
