Piscifin Sword Fly Fishing Reel
This is a very impressive fly reel. It its extremely well made, light, great looking and very smooth with an excellent drag. I currently have forward tapered #4 floating fly line loaded on this reel making a superb small stream fly fishing outfit. What especially appeals to me about this reel is that that it is constructed of beautifully CNC machined 606T-T6 aluminum alloy and much stronger than the die cast reel it replaced. I like the one way clutch bearing for quick hook ups and this that reel is sealed to protect from corrosion. The smooth cork and stainless steel drag is really nice in helping reduce break offs when using a very light tippet when fighting large trout (when lucky enough to hook one). This reel has so many great features at a very reasonable price. The quality to cost ratio is amazing and based on other reviews I have read, I see I am just one of many fans of this reel. This is now my favorite fly reel for trout fishing. I highly recommend this reel and this will be my go to fly reel brand and model if I need a larger fly reel in the future for bass fishing. Now all I need to do is purchase a second spool so I do a quick change of lines when conditions require a different line.

If you want a REALLY nice reel with a great line…
This is quite simply an incredible reel & line for short money. If this reel had one of the BIG fly fishing name brands stamped on the side of it, Fly fishing aficionados all over would be snapping them up in a hurry and wouldn’t complain even at three or four times the price. On top of it being a fantastic reel, it comes already spooled with backing and line that are REALLY quite nice. You would expect some crappy backing and a line that has more memory than your latest Apple device, but it Is a very nice line that performs very well & should also cost much more than it does.I would be shocked if ANYONE bought this reel/line combination at such a great price and weren’t happy with what they got for the money. Is it the reel i would take on a two week fishing trip to Alaska for Big Salmon or to Ontario Canada for trophy Musky..probably not. But for Big Brown & Rainbow Trout close to home that are caught fairly often in the 20/24” range or Big Smallmouth and largemouths, ABSOLUTELY.

Solid reel for the money
I bought this reel because of the price and other reviews I read online, I paid full price for the reel on Amazon and was not given any discounts or freebies from Piscifun. I live in North Carolina and fly fish in the southern Appalachians targeting backcountry native trout, so the trout I catch are small, a 12" fish is a good fish for my home waters. As a result, I really never test the drag on a reel, I bring 95% of the fish I catch in without them ever getting on the reel. This is one of the things that drew me to the Piscifun Sword, I do not need a burly drag system for the fishing I do.I bought the 3/4 reel to go on a 8'6" 3 wt rod, when loaded with backing and line it balanced perfectly for this rod. When the reel arrived I was very impressed with the machining and tolerances, there is no slop or wiggle in the spool and the reel is very well finished. Overall it is a very solid feeling, nice looking reel. One reservation that I had is that the drag adjustment dial is very loose and easy to turn, there are indexing clicks but they are very light and not the solid feeling indexing of some of my other reels. I can see how this could be a problem playing larger fish, it would be easy to inadvertently turn the knob and change the drag setting. So I spooled the reel up with 3 wt double taper line and went fishing. I spent 2 days on a fairly remote eastern Tennessee stream and caught several fish. The reel performed fantastic, no issues what so ever. The spool turns effortlessly with no wobble and I had no issues with the drag setting changing, please bear in mind I am basing this on the tension of pulling line off the reel, not playing fish.To sum up, I am very pleased with this reel for my purposes and think it is far better than other reels I am familiar with at this price point. If you are looking for a reel to handle 24" trout out of a drift boat then this might not be the reel for you, however, if your game is small water natives up to 16" or so this reel seems to be just fine. I am very pleased with this reel and would probably give it 4.5 stars if possible, the only reason it does not get 5 is due to the loose drag adjustment and lack of positive indexing clicks.

High quality for the money - great value
Like virtually everyone else says, these reels are of unbeatable quality at this price point. I heard that Piscifun may be getting out of the fly fishing side of things, so the reels/rods are on closeouts. I got the 5/6 weight reel and it is very light but also seems strong and with tight tolerances. Some folks had issues with the drag, but I really like it - the knob is big and the drag is very smooth and easy to adjust, with audible clicks at each of the interval levels. To get the spool off, you loosen the entire drag knob and then pull the whole thing off - a bit different than other reels that have a little spring-loaded catch you move to pop the spool off. My reel came as a left-hand retrieve, which is what I prefer - but it seems easy to change to right-hand, too. I think I'm going to pick up another reel to save for the future. I'll upload two photos of the reel on my 5-wt rod so you can get an idea of size.

Solid Reel!
This is a solid reel! Lost my Orvis Fly reel and needed a quick back up. Drag held up better than most reels would fighting salmon for 2 days, and drag was still solid after I my trip was over! Drag was not so quiet like a few people have stated might differ from reel to reel. But will say for the price it was awesome. Might have to snag another in a 3/4wt for the trout streams next!

Best bang for buck reel!
The reel works... period...I have been catching Yellowfish and Catfish here in South Africa and no problems at all. Drag is smooth as silk , I have 5/6 Wt 7/8 and 9/10 wt reels . The only thing I would like to see is a slightly wider reeel as now on my 9/10 with a running line and Skadgit heaqd there is very little space for my backing which could be limiting. I would recommend these reels to anyone. Finish is good .

Great performer for the price with great support
I have been using these reels since 2018 and have 3 with extra spools. The cork friction disc disintegrated in one and I recently contacted Piscifun. They didn't have any spare discs at the time but said they would send me one when they did. Two months later a package arrives with two replacement discs, now made from what seems like a synthetic weaved material... Superb service! The reels themselves have been good performers for me. Easy to take a part and maintain. The drag can slacken off over a days fishing now and again but this is a minor quibble. I use them with the Piscifun fly rod and have had many trout with this setup.

Looks well made, drag setting is not very flexible
Overall, the reel looks well made and well balanced, the retrieve is smooth and tight. The only down side I have seen after a couple of outings is the drag settings. There is very little play between being way too tight, to very loose. They need to improve the drag design so that you have a wider range of settings.

Great, inexpensive, beautiful looking entry level reel.
Got it in black on sale. Lined it with WF9F. Used it for 3 hours today. Great reel!! It’s light and feels well-built. I wish the drag had a click so you know how tight or lose you’re going, but it’s not a deal breaker. Still did the job better than I had hoped. I was worried about Piscifun but this is a great reel!
