Great Ear Plugs
I've been using Alpine MusicSafe ear plugs for many years. They're great for concerts as well as loud bars and restaurants. They take the edge off in noisy environments and allow me to hear better. I'm a musician and perform with them as well. I've used several variations like the party plugs, which are also quite good, just not adjustable. These are the second generation of MusicSafe ear plugs and have the following differences: (1) Silver and Gold filters instead of white, silver and gold (I use silver unless going to a super loud concert) (2) The filters now have a plastic sheath which, I presume, makes them fit more snugly into the ear plugs. I suspect this was done to make it possible to pull the earplugs out by grabbing the ends of the filters, something that was not possible with the first generation. (3) The ear plugs themselves don't stick out quite as much, closely matching the profile of the party plugs. This is nice as I used to snip some of the end off of the first generation ear plugs because they stuck out so much. My guess as to why the first generation stuck out so much was to make them easier to remove, but since the filters stick in more tightly now I think this is less of an issue. (4) The ear plugs come with the same cylindrical carrying case (space for the other filters in the little bottom compartment), but they do not come with the insertion tool. This is possibly because the new filters make insertion easier, or perhaps because the added girth from the new filters makes it more difficult to cram the earplugs plus insertion tool into the case. Either way, I really like the insertion tool and will keep mine from the previous generation. I also think the party plugs have a superior case, so try getting a pair of each.

Great ear plugs. Have rebought multiple times
I go to a lot of shows and also play in a band and always recommend these ear plugs. I usually just always keep them in my pocket since the case is so convenient. The inserts are great for quieter concerts, or when I am playing and want to hear better but the heavy duty inserts are a great option to save my ears. Great documentation on the noise reduction levels on the packaging that I have actually referenced a few times for safety.

Beware the seating depth
Overall, the sound profile is quite good. There's some muffling on the low end of speech but not too bad. I will warn, however, that the seating depth to get an appropriate seal is quite deep in my experience. I normally wear a Small eartip in all of my IEMs and these seat quite a bit further to achieve a good seal. My solution was to take a small bit of silk, unwaxed floss and tie it around the base of the filter at the seam where it's inserted to the silicone tip. I leave just enough length to wrap over the shell of my ear, just like you would with an IEM. It's unobtrusive and allows for the plugs to be gently removed and bundles up into the storage cannister just right. Update: Went to a metal concert (Sevendust, Disturbed, Three Days Grace). We were up at the corner of stage left, right under the PAs. I did wind up switching to the 27Db filter for a bit more comfort but they performed AMAZINGLY. I already have tinnitus in my right ear and it didn't aggravate it. No sign of tinnitus in my left ear. Perfect clarity of the music. I actually perceived better response for the drums with the gold/27Db filters. Highly recommend.

Excellent for sound quality at a metal show
Hi, I bought these a while ago, but finally had a chance to use them. Was at a metal show at a small club, and the sound was really LOUD. Lots of people were commenting on how loud the band was afterwards. What really impressed me is that these earplugs stood up to the wall of sound put out by a black metal band, and I was able to hear everything without that muffled sound you get from cheaper earplugs. I heard the music perfectly - so much so that I was worried they weren't actually working. I have some tinnitus from years of metal and punk shows without hearing protection, so I can be very sensitive, particularly the next morning. No problems after the show with these earplugs. I should mention that the small metal case they supplied is a thoughtful feature. I like to take out the plugs in-between bands, and there was no fumbling with a larger, plastic case or worries about it being too large. The case fits neatly in a jeans pocket. All in all, these things are great, and I'd buy them again.

Comfortable and perfect level of noise reduction.
The wife and I used them all four days at Louder Than Life (A hard rock/metal festival in Louisville, Kentucky). There are two levels of decibel reduction included. Day one we used the high level reduction and thought it was to much. So we switched them out and used the mid-level reduction and it was perfect. Front of stage for a total of 37ish hours of music over four days and we can still hear. You can also hear people talking with the mid-level reduction but not with the higher one.

Needs a Better Storage Case
I wish I had, had the opportunity to try these out at least once. I've had them for a week on my keychain in the storage tube. There is a top and bottom of the container the screws open/closed. I closed it tight however all I have left is the top of the storage tube, dangling from my key chain. Who knows where the tube/earplugs are as it unscrewed at some point. Smh. Horrible construction of the case. Going back to Eargasms.

Not for orchestral music
I play the oboe in an orchestra and purchases these to use during rehearsal to save my hearing from loud brass sections. Unfortunately, they don’t work for this purpose. I cannot hear my section mates well enough to play in tune or adjust my volume. I don't think the ear plugs were intended for this purpose, so I didnt want to rate too low. While wearing the plugs and not playing I can hear okay, but softer sounds and higher pitches from flute and clarinet are lost. I don’t think these are the best choice for orchestra music listening. I want to add the case is very well designed with a place to store the unused silver or gold sound reducing bits.

Better than Vibes!
My daughter is 12. She is autistic and doesn't deal well with noise. She almost daily wears ear plugs when out of the house. She had a school dance that we were prepping for and I bought her these to try to see if she could stand the noise. They worked so well. We decided to test them again at a very loud arcade. Again she was very comfortable. She said the only issue is that she forgets that it's much louder for us and she doesn't know how loud to talk....but it's not a bad issue to have. Thank you for a product that is helping my girl get out of her comfort zone but remaining comfortable:) We did try vibes and they had a lot that we did not like about the product.
