Grim reading in places
This is a story based on the truth. It is a sad fact that in the 1800s life was cheep british workers may not have been slaves as such, there were no chains and whips, unless you had comited a crime like stealing a stale loaf of bread, because your family had nothing. Worth reading if like me you love industrial history, this gives you an idea wghat it could be like in the south wales mining and iron works valeys. The english get the blame but i belive it was no diferent in yourkshire or scotland.

A must read
I bought this for my husband and he absolutely loved it. It's only small so didn't take an age to read but the vocabulary, he said, was wonderful. We purchased the other books in the trilogy and they have been almost as brilliant
