I am very new to origami but I decided I just HAD to make the 6-pointed star on the cover of the book. This is the last project in the book (there are 12 projects), and I think it was meant to be the most difficult. It was my first dollar bill folding adventure so I used fake bills from a kit for the first attempt. I had to flip back and forth so I could understand how to make the rabbit ear, but once I did, I was successful! A very exciting feeling!! (I put a small sticky note on the rabbit ear instruction page as well as on the star instruction page to make it easy to flip back and forth as needed). I usually give up on origami instruction books and watch Youtube videos instead, but this book was so well written and illustrated, that I think almost anyone could be successful, too.Even after making 6 identical pieces for the 6-pointed star, I still had to refer to the instructions in order to make the star so don't be discouraged. I found that after making several of the identical pieces I could memorize a few steps here and a couple of steps there but never the entire series of instructions.You would not believe the impression this star makes!! Everyone who sees it just goes crazy! I think it's because they are looking at such an everyday item as a dollar bill and seeing 6 of them being converted into an artistic masterpiece (am I being self-aggrandizing or what?!?) Note: ----- I had to glue it together, otherwise it would come apart and people wouldn't be so impressed. However, I'm sure waitstaff would not want to receive a glued-together origami tip!! lolI want to make more of these 6-pointed stars so I just purchased some "Uncle Sam Wants You" fake bills and even some "Felix the Cat" fake bills on Ebay. I recommend that you always use fake bills the first time you make a money tip to reduce frustration if you have to refold the bill(s) due to misreading the instructions. You don't want real dollar bills to end up being all wrinkled. And that's another thing ---- I always go to the bank and get crisp unused one dollar bills to make the tips. It makes the finished product look so much nicer. What a great book!
