Meh...long long long paper!
Overall presentation of content was okay. The color pictures of finished curlicue's are beautiful (like the cover). The diagrams on how to get there are just so-so. Be warned this is NOT your typical origami using squares of paper. This type of work will require LONG strips of tapered or rectangular pieces of paper. The more detailed the design (which is essentially a repeating process), the longer the sheet of paper. A basic model with a very simple design starts with a 30cm x 5cm x 1cm tapered strip.Author recommends strong wrapping paper (which may be fun for Christmas designs), but finding dual-sided wrapping paper can be a hassle, and accurately cutting very long tapered strips of paper also very problematic.I believe the concept is entertaining. But due to the length of paper required and the accuracy of folds to produce a solid project, this is focused on the advanced paper folder (not due to complexity - just due to the accuracy required to do it right). If you are up for the challenge, I think the outcome would be rewarding. I'm just not convinced yet that the time to get the paper cut to the right shape and taper is worth the headache...We'll see.

Amazing book!
I purchased this book from Amazon this month and it is a great book to buy for beginners as well as for those who are familiar with Origami. The book details a new technique if folding - curclicue - which is very well explained and has easy to follow instructions. Instructions are accompanied with color photographs of the finished designs. Tips on cutting the paper is also given. The most important thing to know when folding these designs is the accuracy in cutting the paper and the colors of paper used. Using contrasting colored paper will make a world of a difference to your finished model. This book is absolutely fun!

very interesting and exciting
It does require cutting trapezoidal paper, but other than that, it is a fascinating technique. It is fairly easy, and with practice can be quickly mastered. Once it is mastered, I think it would really cool to use strips painted to match the curlicues.

Curlicue
I'm always looking for new origami ideas, and this book certainly provides them. Clear diagrams and explanations. Tapered strips (140 cm long) are easily cut from stiff wrapping paper.

you will need paper strips of 50 to 75 inches or more to make a model that's impressive as well as easy to fold
First of all, it's not an origami book. It's a kirigami (cut-and-paste) activities book. Unless you have very small fingers, you will need paper strips of 50 to 75 inches or more to make a model that's impressive as well as easy to fold. The locking mechanisms are questionable.jfk

Easy to follow!
The instructions in the book were actually better than those in the video that convinced me to buy it.

Curlicue: Kinetic Origami
This book is very easy to understand and very clearly laid out. The diagrams are easy to follow as are the written instructions. Ms Brill also includes a section where she explains how to get longer strips of paper. All in all an enjoyable book that is well presented and much fun.

Rushed to buy this book when I first found the model online, but . . .
Can't give 5 stars as there should be more information about paper and sizes needed to reproduce the models shown. The longest strip mentioned is less than 5 feet and my longest strip of 9 feet is still way short or reproducing models illustrated. Also, it was mentioned that there were 27 or 28 models but really there are only variations of three. The third, but small problem is that only one model has a requirement for a protractor rather than a starting fold sequence, and of course, I lost mine a very long time ago! Other than that, the models are truly ingenious and the book is fairly well done.

Mal impreso.
