Alford = 1980s god
A good book from the best Indiana basketball player from the 1980s not named Isiah or Edwards. Alford was a heroic figure for me growing up, a tough minded leader who never seemed to miss. Being a huge fan, I doubt I would have downgraded anything he wrote. Still, this book is good, has great perspective on Coach Knight, and just shows what a great teammate Alford was. Highly recommended.

a great look at coach knight from a legend
Steve Alford in his book [playing for knight] gives the reader the most accurate inside look at what is was like to play for in my opinion the 2nd greatest coach in college basketball history behind the late John Wooden. I really enjoyed how Steve went into detail about how coach approached practices and his game preparation.The chapter on the olympic experience was worth the price of the book by itself. At the end of the book Steve says after 6 yrs with coach Knight he would of done it all over again.Coming from now coach Alford that says a lot about the benefits of playing for coach Knight.A excellent book that does an Indiana fan proud to root for the Hoosiers and remember Bob Knight for the great coach he was and could be still.

This is the most accurate depiction of Bob Knight you will find anywhere and it was fun to get an inside look at the Indiana bas
Well written even though Steve was only in his mid twenties. This is the most accurate depiction of Bob Knight you will find anywhere and it was fun to get an inside look at the Indiana basketball program way back when. I used to watch them religiously when Knight was the coach and really enjoyed hearing Steve describe the personalities of some of his teammates.

Loved it
My husband is a Bobby Knight fan and a 35+ years BB coach himself. He laughed and had tears. He thoroughly enjoyed every page and the book supported his knowing that Bobby Knight and Steve Alford are both good men and great coaches.
