Good knight!
Fascinating story of one of the original Knights Templar who seems to have been excluded from other histories of that organization. Kudos to the author for her deep dive into Clan Rose and its beginnings. Unfortunately, the editor must have missed the class on syntax, making it a bit difficult read. Nevertheless, it was worth the effort. Well done.

An Invisible Medieval Power Structure That Culminated with the Signing of the Magna Carta
Walking through medieval castles or along the length of the Bayeaux tapestry preserved in carefully-controlled conditions in the Normandy museum, one is surrounded by silence. This interminable silence is also found in London's Templar Church, where nine effigies lie in eternal silence. Author Susan Rose breaks that silence with the human interactions and spirit that shaped the course of history. Ten years of research into the life of Robert II Furfan de Ros by the author has revealed a previously hidden connection of power. Two effigies in the Templar Church, where King John was held in house arrest before he signed the Magna Carta, are of William Marshall, Earl of Pembroke and Robert II Furan de Ros, who travelled to Rome to present the signed document to the Pope. Included in the book are the text of the Magna Carta and Rules of the Knight Templar. To read Susan's book is to truly understand much of the history of England and Scotland. It is a page turner!

Very well researched and informative
The fact that the author has actually gone to the places in her book and read some of these ancient documents for herself; shows the time, effort, and originality of this work. It certainly comes from a place of authenticity rarely found in modern historic research. There is a love and passion for getting to the truth no matter where it would lead, and apparently it lead to some surprising places.I knew more than most about the figures in this book and their times, but I learned things about Robert de Ros and the Templar Order that I never new, or would have speculated. This is a great book for anyone interesting in the Rose/ de Ros family, Norman Nobility, Knights Templar and How England gave the world Magna Carta.

He truly was Hiding in Plain Sight!
This is a very well documented factual account that traces the origins of the Knights Templar & Robert II Furfan de Ros in particular. The passionate author has obviously spent a lot of time and travel to accumulate so much historical data and photos. Of particular interest are the voluminous standards and requirements that the knights had to meet. Who'd have known?? All in all a thoroughly fun, entertaining, and informative read. Well Done Ms. Rose!

The Knights Templar Hiding in Plain Sight
A fascinating history of Robert II de Ros, a little known name of a man who was so deeply involved in the Knights Templar, Scottish royalty and was one if the sureties of the Magna Carta. An accomplished man who played an integral role in history. This history has been hidden from all for thousands of years. The author brings him to life and shares his accomplishments. Excellent research of history hidden away.

Disjointed and Confusing
This book has no real structure or order to it as it meanders from one historical quote or list to the next. I couldn't finish it because there is no clear narrative thread running from chapter to chapter just disjointed points that seem to have no clear connection and do not seem to develop the narrative in any clear way. Terms are not defined and there is a lot of assumed knowledge. It's a shame because the topic sounded interesting. There is an appendix with the rules of the Knights Templar and a copy of the Magna Carta but you can these online anyway. Give it a miss.
