Written by Alex (Year 6)
I would rate this book a 5/5 stars as I enjoyed reading it a lot and could not put it down. I would always grab the next book as soon as I could when I finished the one I was reading as it always made me wonder what would happen next. The book is about a boy called Dax Jones, who finds out he can shape shift into a fox, and is eventually taken away to a school for students with abnormal powers. The series is about the chaos that happens there, how Dax and his new friends discover strange things about the school and how Dax's past unfolds.I loved the book because it had a lot of twists and turns of things you would never expect. Most of the books had ender on a cliffhanger, always leaving me desperate to read the next book. It was definitely one of my favourite series to read.I would recommend this book to people around 8-12 as it is filled with action, and most children around this age like this genre.

AMAZING
So this was one of my favourite series when I was like 11 years old and I really needed a comforting pick-me-up book, especially as I felt like I was going into a slump. And let me tell you, it did not disappoint, totally worth the money I spent rebuying the whole series on kindle <<3

Excellent paranormal adventure for kids.
A superb, well-written, action packed story - ideal for the 9-12 year old age group - about Dax Jones who suddenly discovers that he can shift into a fox.Dax is sent to a special secret government school for children with paranormal gifts. The school comes under scrutiny from a nosey journalist and lives are soon at stake. At the same time, Dax starts to learn some unusual things about his past.If you like this first book then you'll love the whole series - highly recommended.

This is a Magical Book by a Magical Author
Forget Harry Potter. This is the ultimate book that combines a supernatural/boarding school book. Sparkes' writing is elegant with a light touch and has a real air of majesty about it. The characters are mostly likeable (when the author wants them to be) and the do have depth. It also feels almost believable, more so than the idea that some people are wizards because, well, they just are. Humor is abundant and the fact that the COLA project is part of the government makes it seem far less, as Gideon would say, 'wifty-wafty'.So put down Potter and opt for this work of literary art instead.

Great read
One of my random reads and what a great one it turned out to be. Even though I'm probably 30 years older than the book's intended audience I found it a fascinating read with a fast paced story and I am sure to recommend it to anyone of all ages.
