Worked as expected
The Alpine pressure cooker is a well-built unit with a quality feel. It comes in a box suitable for gift giving. Included are a small instruction booklet, a one cup measure and a rice spoon. It is a versatile machine that also has a slow cooker setting, something I wasn't expecting. For me, the cooker took a little time to get used to it. There is no way to set the time and pressure independently. Instead, there are 10 buttons corresponding to what is being cooked. A time range for each item can then be selected. For example, after pushing the "rice" button, a range from 5 to 15 minutes can be selected. By the way, it makes perfect white rice in 5 minutes. When I made a shrimp Thai soup that required only 1 minute, I had to use the vegetable button to set the time. The soup came out perfectly, however. There was a bit of a learning curve to use the cooker but overall, I am impressed with it.For all its versatility, it's a shame that a cookbook isn't supplied specific to the machine. I would like to make yogurt but will have figure out how. Yes, everything is available on the internet but sometimes opening a page is a lot less time consuming. One other thing that needs mentioning is the cooker has plastic feet, not rubber, so it tends to slide around on the counter. That's not necessarily a bad thing as the cooker is heavy and sliding it is easier than lifting it. All in all, I am very pleased with it.

Makes a good roast
Using this to make a roast is good because if I forget to do it early in the day, we can still have it for dinner when I get home after work. The specific temperature inside under pressure makes it work better than normal, and the electronic settings make it easier for me than a regular stovetop pressure cooker. Cleaning can be a bit tricky because of size and things splash over and around the electronic bits and I don't want to break it.

Great
I got this pressure cooker for myself because to tell you the truth I can’t cook to save my life. But there is one food I love and that’s rice, so this machine is perfect for me cause I make rice everyday and it comes out well with this machine. It’s the perfect size for me and I love the digital display. So this is well worth the price for me

Had to break it apart to release the top & retrieve items
I am going to preface this review with a sentiment about the overall Vine program I've been a part of for nearly a year: most of the items are not worth the purchase. This program seems designed to supplement a company's Research & Design department, and focus groups. These seem to all be companies that don't exist outside of an Amazon presence, so for that alone, I am highly skeptical about such things as customer service, repairs, replacements, or refunds. I find that there are a lot of items that are unavailable by the time I've used them long enough for a review; the companies don't seem to last longer than their supplies. I have literally thrown away somewhere around 40% of the products I've received, as they either failed, or were just insufficient, or generally crappy. With that said, I would implore people to approach any product with lots of Vine Customer reviews attached to it with caution, because these are the "iffy" products you probably want to avoid. Most of them can be found for a little more money, or even the same price point from another, more reputable, trust-worthy company (a company with an actual reputation at stake). So take this perception as you will. With that said, avoid this product. Compared to the other pressure cooker I have, and others I've seen or used, this one make NO SENSE to purchase. No exaggeration. First, the controls make no sense. There is no way to just put in a temp and time. You have to choose between the presets and adjust those the best you can;For instance, there is 3 settings for temperature: low, mid, high... so if you want to do something for 15 mins at mid, you have to find the preset that allows for mid, then adjust the time. I don't know why you have to constantly search for what you MAY want, instead of just being able to input it.Also, it feels VERY FLIMSLY. I never felt like the top was very secure when I twisted it into place. Very scary. When I first used my initial pressure cooker, I was very nascent to the principles and use of it, and I opened it while making rice before the pressure completely went down. The rice and water literally EXPLODED when I finally FORCED the top off. With THIS one, I never felt like this would have that level of tightness. Pieces have too much leeway/range of motion; the pressure regulator (that switches it between "Steam" or "Pressure") always felt loose. The top could twist a little even when it's "secure".The only cool part about this machine was that it showed the PSI while it cooked. But lets get to why I had to break it apart... one day I couldn't get the top to twist securely; it wouldn't fall into place as it had done before. I couldn't figure it out, going crazy even examining the top and the base, realizing it's the same pattern all around, so I said "Let me put it in THIS way," while I put it on so that the pressure valve wasn't aligned like it should be. It went on, and I twisted it a little, just to see if it was unobstructed, and sure enough, it twisted, then LOCKED HARD into place.I couldn't get it off to save my life. So I literally had to take a hammer and get my food out of it by breaking the top apart. Funny enough, it was the most secure that top had ever been, and it took putting it on improperly for that to happen.Avoid this product. It is NOT WORTH IT WHATSOEVER. So many better ones out there. REPUTABLE COMPANIES SHOULD BE SOUGHT AFTER FOR SUCH PRODUCTS.
