I prefer this Garmin Zumo XT (* Battery only lasts about 2-3 Hours*) over Motocycling apps that were hard to see in the sunlight and lost signal from my Phone, quite easy to use with the Garmin Explore and Garmin Drive to plan the day out with winding routes and then transfer it to the satnav.........Money well spent also better to wire it to switch live if you can...

It's a Garmin so you know it's a good product. The TX screen is plenty big enough to see/check with a quick glance on the move. Maps are easy to download. Route planning can be as simple as putting a destination in and choosing how 'twisty' you want it to be by moving the on screen slider or you can plan the whole route on your PC and download it. Highly recommended.

Addition to my initial review. This does not come with a powered car mount, there is a mount and a usb charger to plug into the USB mini B port on the back of the unit, this is garbage!! the usb mini b port was obsolete in 2007, this is a repeat of below, it was done away with due to not being robust, and failing within 1000 insertions, which if like me you use it in a car is only three in and out of the cable a day, I often do more than that not wanting to leave on view in a vehicle. It has completely failed within 12 months, shorted out and no longer works. Be aware if you want to use it in a vehicle. Whats to like and what not, first it is a great screen bright clear, and responsive, looks and feels fairly robust, thats about it, you may ask why not send it back, well that is due to the fact that it is better than the opposition and they are the only two options so its take it or leave it, I need a bike sat nav so this is it, but to be fair the design is pretty garbage. Whats not to like but put up with, we USB connected that was obsolete in 2007 for a start, the mounting system is flimsy, the screen is to responsive sometimes and no way to tone it down, the software is not as intuitive as previous versions, no option for the trip info screen with compass, no usb, no headphone attachments on the cables, in fact no headphone jack at all, very little customization of the screen display, you can get it to show different information but not permanently it constantly switches back, feels cheap against previous models. Its not worth the money, feels cheap and nasty, software is nowhere as easy to use as previous versions, lot of very useful functions removed. Oh no powered car mount either, so constant pulling of the little rubber door on the back to plug in a 15 year old usb connector with a lighter socket plug on the end!!!! what plant do Garmin live on, a usb connect to power direct off 5v would be fine but no you get a monstrous large 12v to 5v transformer in a lighter socket plug, I mean this is 1990 tech not 2021, some really weird design choices. In short you are being ripped off, its a paired back device compared to even the last version, and being charged top price for it. The ONLY reason to buy one is that there are only 4 real gps devices for bikes, 2 by garmin and 2 by competitor, this is the best of the 4 but that is not really saying much. Caveat Emptor

I have been using Garmin Satnavs for many years now, relying on it for years now in my role as a Motorcycle Instructor / Advanced Examiner. I've had many different models as Garmin evolved their units, now with the XT model. I always use their mapping system too, to make sure a new route works. Simply cannot fault them with lots of other abilities they build into it. Personally, I would not be without mine.

Overall seems a good unit but the first one only lasted a few weeks and failed on my way home one evening... had it replaced so hopefully this one will last a while..

I am A garmin user I have used it in the car and on the bike easy to read . I have planned 16 days of touring 270 miles a day through 6 countries and there is still space. still trying to find some of the planning feature like inserting a pin and browsing in the country to locate the pin. Cordinates are a little awkward. But over all a great sat nave

Bought this as a replacement for a 10 year old Garmin Zumo 396. This Zumo XT is a far superior GPS. I have used it on 3 European tours now and I am completely satisfied with the performance. My only criticism is that it is very slow to connect with my computer when I want to download preplanned routes. Whether this is just a problem with my my Zumo XT or in general, I don't know. Otherwise it's great and I am very pleased with it

bluffé par le produit, qualite, finition, qualite de la dalle tactile et reactivite. ergonomie excellente du logiciel qualite et definition graphique tres tres bonne ergonomique dans la navigation des menus , rapide pour synchro avec les satellite facilite synchro bluetooth egalement tu balances ta playlist du telephone et tu pilote alors ta music sur le gps, le telephone est dans la poche au chaud tres lisible, ecran affiche fait quasiment la taille flobale du boitier! utilisation moto 1290sas ktm.... esthetiquement sympa aussi prevoir queques minutes pour la premeire mise a jour wifi , le package est gros... 30-45 minutes en ce qui me concerne malgre un bon reseau wifi et une fibre 500mo a 1g j hesitais avec le tomtom rider 550, mais ce dernier est d une autre epoque deja, et le.prix du zumo xt, ici m a facilite le choix. bref sans regret un bel objet, lourd, donc attention a ne pas le faire tomber, je pense que la dalle fera glace ;) fourni avec toute les accessoires pour le branxher, fixer en coiture et sur la moto il manque jsute une housse de transport qu on trouve 10€ et eventuellement un verre de protection ecran. j ai recu le mien zumo xt donc semaine derniere. il est simple à apprehender, hyper rapide à synchroniser satellites, sensible au toucher gants, conviviale, ergonomique. Que du bon. un vrai plaisir plus plus en moto. j ai pu avec un des kits de fixation fournis, le monter sur le centre du guidon de ma 1290superadventure 2020, il est idealment placé. j ai,pas encore achete le kit fixation vendu par ktm car finalement , le gps fixe au guidon est accessible, bien visible, ne masque pas le compteur de la moto, ni la vue. et c est moins blingue blingue m as tu vu que de le suspendre au dessu du compteur moto. ce qui bouche le a vue......

I made a grave mistake when I decided to go for this navigation system for my beloved BMW GS, thinking I was saving a cool 360 euros by not splurging on the original BMW nav. Well, let me tell you, I've regretted that decision. Here's why this purchase has been nothing short of a navigational nightmare: First off, updating this thing is like trying to teach a dinosaur to tap dance. The desktop app, Garmin Express, seems to have a PhD in avoiding my device. I had to play musical chairs with cables and USB ports until, by some cosmic accident, it finally acknowledged the existence of my nav. And no, it didn't do it because I made any specific changes - it just felt like it. This kind of inconsistent behavior is what nightmares are made of, especially in the realm of software. Speaking of Garmin Express, it's the emptiest app in the history of emptiness. It's good for one thing and one thing only - fixing map issues and updating software. Forget about pasting GPX files into it; you'll need to employ another piece of software for that. So, it's essentially an app that's supposed to make your life easier but just leaves you scratching your head. Now, let's talk about importing trip data. When it comes to GPX files for road trips, this thing's idea of calculation seems to be stuck at 96% on repeat, like some bad '90s pop song. Sometimes it doesn't even get off the starting block, stuck at a glorious 0%. It works only when it feels like it, probably when it's having a good day. This level of inconsistency should be a Guinness World Record in the "How Not to Design Software" category. Garmin, I hate to break it to you, but you're a one-trick pony. This device can barely do 10% of what my old OnePlus Android phone can do. I'd rather dust off that trusty old phone, fire up Waze, and enjoy a much smoother, more feature-rich experience. Sadly, the 449 euros I dropped on this gadget now feel like they've vanished into the abyss. Am I still using it, you ask? Well, reluctantly, yes. I reserve it for those quick A-to-B rides when I can't be bothered with the hassle. For trip planning, though, I turn to my dependable Android, where I can tap into a world of navigation apps that actually work. This whole ordeal has shown me just how far mobile phone technology has come compared to these archaic navigation systems. Garmin, it's time to step out of the '90s and catch up with the modern world of navigation. Until then, my motorcycle and I will be navigating into the future without you.

POSITIVES zum neuen zumo XT + Display ist tatsächlicher Heller und ich kann es auf jedenfall besser ablesen ( im Vergleich zu den Vorgängern zumo 595 590 500 ) + Egal ob mit oder ohne Sonnenblende im Motorrad Helm (Schubert C3) + auch im Auto ist der Blickwinkel merklich besser geworden (auch vom Beifahrer aus > gut zu lesen) und klar auch bei Sonne o was ein Problem bei Hochglanz Displays immer ist und sein wird … wenn die Sonne direkt von hinten kommt, also direkt blendet – einfache Lösung bleibt mit dem Motorradhelm zwischen Sonne (hinten) und Navi (vorne) dann blendet es nicht und man kann was ablesen + Anzeige ist größer – 140mm Bildschirm Diagonale zu 125mm (zumo 595) + fällt aber nicht wirklich ins Gewicht … naja ein wenig schon + der zumo XT ist in jedem Fall dünner geworden (zum Vorgänger) + ist schon mal ein Schritt in die richtige Richtung o ned wirklich dünn - … man stelle sich vor - ein iPhone etc. wäre ~25mm dick - also dicker als ein Labello Lippenstift – puhh,… mal ehrlich - da ist noch Handlungsbedarf + Anschluss ans Bike - Kabel etc. • Es gibt nur noch ein +/- Kabel mit einem Spannungswandler am Anfang – fertig - + kein separater Kopfhörer Anschluss (3,5mm Klinke) + keine Mikrophon Buchse + keine AUX-IN Buchse + kein USB Anschluss o ok - USB wäre z.T. ned schlecht - aber es gibt andere Lösungen + Menü Steuerung / Führung in jedemfall schneller – nicht so schnell wie bei einem iPhone etc. … aber es geht schon deutlich flotter als bei den Vorgängern + Buttons Grafiken etc. sind überarbeitet worden und wirken zeitgemäßer + BirdsEye • find ich toll und ist mal was neues – bravo Garmin !!! Was ist BirdsEye ? Einfach gesagt: es werden zur normalen Navi Ansicht (Kartenansicht) auf Wunsch – Satellitenbilder „darüber gelegt“ • Schaut geil aus – zumindest jetzt im Jahr 2020 wo es mir neu ist ( ich kann mir vorstellen das es zum Standard bzw. noch ausgebaut wird ) Meine erste Erfahrung: (nach ein paar Hotspots der Alpen) • Funktioniert und ist eine nette neue Darstellung der jeweiligen Karten o man darf nur vorher nicht vergessen einen „Download“ von dem jeweiligen Gebiet das man fährt zu speichern (SD-Karte) o es geht leider nur von einem x-beliebigen Ort +30km rund her rum • und ja der Screenshot Button macht jetzt – Sinn - + Topografische Karte / Ansicht • Ja doch,… schaut gut aus ich will hier ehrlich sein – das Thema ist zu komplex und ich möchte es mir noch genauer anschauen • was aber klar steht man kann zwischen 3 Karten Ansichten hin und her schalten – was schon mal sehr positiv ist • Standard Navi Karte + BirdsEye (Satelliten Bilder) + Topo Karte … hey wer da nicht mehr weiß wo er ist – glaube, den kann keiner mehr helfen • klar kommt es immer auf das „zweite“ Karten Material an – aber es funktioniert schon mal fürn Anfang + Wetterradar • ist echt hilfreich beim Motorrad fahren – für alle die nicht nass werden wollen • funktioniert und ist wesentlich schneller als bei den Vorgängern + Lautsprecher ist jetzt im Gehäuse der Navi + SD Karte wird unterstützt bis zu 256GB was Sinn macht mit BirdsEye und guten MP3s Playlist’s + die Menüpunkte lassen sich besser auf die eigenen Wünsche anpassen • z.B. meine eigenen „Benutzer POIs“ nach ganze vorne oben + Anbindung ans Handy schein wesentlich besser zu sein + Kleinigkeiten divers - ( ist eigentlich nicht nennenswert ) aber mir gefällt es und freut mich immer wieder aufs neue • ein kleiner Kompass in der Karten Ansicht ( fahr ich jetzt nach Norden oder Westen … stimmt die Richtung etc. ) • Maßstab wird eingeblendet – welche Entfernung … über was geht die Anzeige • Höhenanzeige nach der jeweiligen Route etc. Was mir nicht gefällt – (würd nicht sagen negativ aber zumindest einem bewusst sein sollte beim Kauf) - Der Akku ist jetzt „fest“ im Gerät o keine Ahnung wie eure bisherige Erfahrung war mit der Zumo Reihe ( ich hatte bisher 500 590 595 ) aber es war ab und an schon mal notwendig und HILFREICH das Gerät vom Akku zu trennen o hat mir schon oft den Spass zurück gebracht, wenn mal kurz der Akku „draussen“ war - Anschluss zum PC o per WLAN mit dem BaseCamp eine Verbindung aufnehmen - geht noch immer nicht - Drahtloses Laden und per WLAN sync o Ich weiss auch nicht, ist das so schwierig oder einfach noch Zukunfts Music bei Garmin o Drahtlos laden + Drahtlos sync - wäre doch echt was - Die microSD Karte liegt jetzt nur hinter einer „einfachen“ Gummilippe o Dichtigkeit etc. … hmmm… weiss ned ob ich dem trauen kann - Display Oberfläche o Die Oberfläche ist typisch zeitgemäß - spiegelnd – o schaut zwar schön und elegant aus – aber du siehst halt jeden Daperer o widerstandsfähig – fraglich – klar es wird Display Folien etc. geben aber hey … Leute ich weiß auch nicht … gibt’s da wirklich keine bessere Lösung ? was spricht gegen matt ?
