Packs an emotional punch!
An eye-opening journey of love, forgiveness and expendability. With her trademark story-weaving, Danielle Steel quickly whisked this reader's heart up and carried it along throughout the book. The characters were very connectable, and though the story took some unexpected turns, it was easy to follow and left you wanting more with each turning of the page. It was bittersweet, emotional and had a lighthearted depth in the end. I loved every minute of it!Madison Allen felt she had lived a fulfilling life until an argument with her eldest daughter led her to question her place in the world at this stage in her life. After a household injury sidelines her from her career for a few weeks, and at her wits end with the envisionment her daughter put into her head of old age and life being over, Maddie sets out on a cross-country drive to put her life into perspective. A walk down memory lane via a box of old photos and letters has her reminiscing about the three men that passed in and out of her life in the years following her divorce as she was raising her three kids alone. She sets out to look up each man and verify in her heart that the decisions she made to get her to this place in her life were justified. The first couple of visits had her comfortable with the choices she had made, and just as the third visit was on the horizon, a curve ball was thrown and an emotional fallout ensues. In the end, it all comes down to her deciding how much living she still wants to get out of life, and how to fit all of the pieces of her world into the area she wants to revolve.

***Full of Emotion***Loved It ***
Lost and Found is full of emotion. This is Maddie's story. She has been a single mother for a long time. Deanna her oldest daughter tests her mother at every turn. She thinks she knows what is best for her mother. It is a very strained relationship. Ben is her only son. Maddie lives in New York and Ben and his family live in California so they don't get to see each other very often. Milagra also lives on the west coast but is a bit of a hermit as she writes gothic novels. Each of Maddie's children have done well in life. It is a shame that they do not take more time with their mother. This is Maddie's story about her relationship with her children and also her past loves. There was a particularly horrible conversation between Maddie and Deanna. No matter what a mother's love is unconditional. This made Maddie rethink all the choices in her life. She wondered if she had made the right ones in particular with her past loves. This is a very touching story and will bring tears to your eyes many times. If you are a fan of Danielle Steel you will love this book as much as I did.

Wonderful!
I have read nothing but psychological thrillers this year and although they will always be my favourites, I needed a break. Danielle Steele is a much loved author to me. Her stories just make me happy. This one was no different. Maddie is a single Mom with 3 children who are grown and on their own when the story begins. She owns and refurbished an old firehouse in New York, to live in and to use as a studio for her job as a world renowned photographer. After a household accident, where she breaks her ankle, she decides to drive cross country to revisit the 3 men who she truly loved throughout her lifetime but gave up for different reasons. Really good story about family matters and living and falling in love. I highly recommend this book.

Romance still lives on when you're 50+
I have never read anything from Danielle Steel, but I ordered this book for my neighbor. When she finished reading the book she passed it onto me. Danielle Steel has a way of drawing you in and keeping you engaged. In this romance book it' was nice to know that love can be found in your late 50's. The main character in this book could have been me. I could so relate to so much of what the main character was going through (minus kids) and that love can be found no matter what age. I read the book while on vacation and finished it in about four days. In tis age of COVID-19 and many people still sheltering in place, this is a good way to escape for a few hours.

More filler than actual story
Danielle Steel has gotten into a bad habit the past several years of writing stories that are mostly filler with very little substance to the story. In this book she spends the first 30 or so pages beating you over the head with what a good, wonderful, selfless, caring, blah, blah, blah person Maddie is. Then she spends untold amounts of time during the book making sure you know that her daughter Deanna is a b****. It's all just filling up space and adds nothing to the story. I used to love Danielle Steel's books for the rich story telling, interesting characters, and details. Now it just seems like she is doing the bare minimum to fill pages. Also her characters at times are so unrealistic. Are we really supposed to believe that Maddie is okay hardly ever seeing or hearing from her kids...give me a break! Also who are these kids that they never make time to see or speak to the mother who was supposedly so great and who they love so much? Maybe in Danielle Steel's liberal social circle this is all normal and acceptable in families but not in any normal family I know. I found most of the characters in this book to be just unlikeable, selfish, self centered, people. Danielle Steel has and can write stories so much better than this boring, bland, hacky story in this book.

Full of tears and laughter.
This is one of the best yet. I caught myself laughing out loud, and then crying. I can relate. Thank you Danielle.

Story has truth in it
The first chapter of this book reads like an outline. I think Steel could have done better. However, the story does get better and more interesting. There's truth about life in the book.
