I would probably stick with the higher grade sphag for anything that is rare or harder to grow just because it will probably decompose much more slowly, and I probably wouldn't use this for terrariums with live animals. Or does it have additives i want to use it for my carnivorous plants** A: It is pure Sphagnum. In the package I received I didn't see impurities (sticks, weeds, etc.). There is nothing added.
