Just what I was looking for
I am 5'6" and about 200lbs so I ordered a XXL regular pair of these pants. I have been wearing them since opening them today and I LOVE them. They are soft, comfortable, and make hardly any noise when walking. They are the perfect length for me, covering the top of my foot but not so long that I'm walking on them. They are straight-leg so the opening at the bottom is large enough for my boot to fit inside but not much wider. The thigh area is usually a difficult part to fit for me, especially in convertible pants because of the zipper. Not with these pants. The thighs and butt are fitted enough that they don't look sloppy but big enough to not be skin tight. They have just the right amount of space. The leg zipper is a little smaller than the fabric leg but doesn't cut in when I sit down, which is something I thought I'd never find (I have several pairs of convertible hiking pants and in the past the leg zippers have all been very uncomfortable). The elastic waistband allows for stretch and give so nothing is cutting in and hurting my stomach. I am definitely getting at least one more pair if these. They are amazing. One thing I wanted to mention that I like but that others may not is that the waist on these pants is well above my bellybutton. Probably at least an inch, maybe more. For me it's no problem because if I'm backpacking I like my hip belt to cinch below my pants button so it doesn't cut into my belly (I got these for backpacking) and when I'm hiking I can easily fold the waistband down for a lower rise that comes just below my bellybutton. There were a couple of very minor things I thought were strange, but not deal-breakers for me. The zipper on the front of the pants in the crotch area is exposed - there's no fabric flap to cover it. Also, when you zip off the legs the zipper makes a kind of triangular shape. Looks a little funny but because of the comfort and fit I have no problem overlooking either of these things.EDIT: I love these pants so much I now have three pair and I've gotten rid of all of my other hiking pants. They are comfortable, durable, breathable, quick-drying...they're great! That being said I just ordered two more pair in the same size as before, XXL. While they fit the same in the waist, the leg zipper on the light khaki pair is much higher on my thigh than the dark khaki so they are uncomfortable. I also compared the l. Khaki and d. Khaki with my black and grey pairs (blue was in the wash or I would have compared those too), and they are all different lengths with the leg zipper in different places! Very odd, but I'm going to keep buying them. These are by far my favorite hiking pants, even if the leg sizing and leg zipper placement location is a bit wonky. New pictures show length differences and leg zipper location differences.

Love the weight and comfort
Pockets? Check. Comfort to hike? Check. Keep me mostly dry? Check. Pack small? Check. Worth the wait of 6 weeks till they arrived. Super comfy and actually look attractive on. Black of course goes w everything and I love the cute quirky boho zipper and pocket trim.

Very nice hiking convertible pants1
I wanted my first ever pair of convertible hiking pants. I'm very happy with them so far.PROS: I got lots of compliments! they fit really nicely and the woven stripe detail on the pocket is unusual and super cute.I like the tapered styling down to the ankles (although downside is below that you can't convert them without taking off your hiking bootsSide hand pockets are plenty big enough to hold sunscreen, lipbalm etc while you're hiking.Very comfortable - I wore a pretty heavy backpack and it didn't rub on my hips at all.Arrived really fast. I didn't need to wash them before wearing for the first timeThey seem durable enough - we went over some roughish trail with branches etc at ankle/knee height - and nothing ripped so far!Great price and valueCONS: there's no zip at the ankles, so if you're wearing very compatc shoes, the stretch is enough to convert the pants over them, but you'll have to remove anything like hiking pants or running shoes.I bought silver sage - I was hoping for it to be more gray, but I'd say it's closer to khaki. Nice color, I was just hoping for a bit different shade.I'll see how they wear - my friend who has another brand of stretchy pants says the stretch kind of wears off after a while, and they get pretty baggy. I hope that doesn't happen with these! For reference, I'm 5'9", about 125 pounds and I bought small - I'm glad I did - the waist is a bit loose so I'm going to reposition the button so it closes smaller.

Attractive, Well-made, Affordable
These pants are attractive, lightweight, and well-made. I bought them for hiking in Colorado. They’re much better constructed, a more affordable price, and are way more comfortable than similar pants I tried on at a well-known outdoor sporting goods store. I purchased a size medium and large, as based on conflicting reviews, I wasn’t sure what to order. I’m 5’6” and weight 138 pounds. Although the medium is a better fit for summer, I’m keeping the large too for winter golf and walking the dog, as I’ll be able to wear heavy long underwear under them. These are made for a woman’s body and have a comfortable rise. They have a higher waist, but that adds to their functionality for sporting purposes. The length is fine, coming down to the bottom of my ankles. These are the best pants I have tried in this category.
