Snow in Amman: An Anthology of Short Stories from Jordan

Some New Directions in Writing
(this is Georges' wife Ron) This is a collection of short stories from current Jordanian authors, each is very different from the next. One commonality I noticed was an almost brusque view of modern emotional conflicts, somewhat reminiscent of Ernest Hemingway's short stories. There is a flavor, sometimes slight, occasionally very pronounced, of a different culture, a 'foreignness' that I found intriguing, that kept me thinking about certain stories long after I had put down the book. I would recommend it more strongly to my woman friends, but anyone who is interested in modern writing trends would enjoy it.

The 2015 Beach Read
Short but captivating. What the west sees, hears, and thinks is in start contrast to the truth shown in these beautiful stories. They're people, like you and me - and they go through the same types of struggles. Gorgeously rendered - highly recommended.

11 nouvelles palpitantes
