This book is a true GIFT!
I discovered this book because I took a graduate course at the Earl E. Bakken Center for Spirituality & Healing (Study Tibetan Medicine at the U of MN). The online course that I took, “Traditional Tibetan Medicine: Ethics, Spirituality, & Healing,” is taught by Dr. Miriam E. Cameron and Dr. Tenzin Namdul, who co-authored this book. After years of teaching their course, and not finding the quality of textbook they wanted for students, they collaborated in this writing project. This book took years to write. The quality of writing and integration of concepts reflect how much effort was put into this project. It is a comprehensive book, addressing issues of karma, ethics, healing, and happiness, as well as health and well-being of our body and mind. Their overall goal is to make accessible the ideas and concepts of Tibetan Medicine for the Western mind.I loved this book so much that it became my Christmas gift in 2020 for friends and family. I can’t recommend the book enough. It is easy and enjoyable to read, and personally engaging. The authors truly try to help you understand the constitution of your body so that you can make changes to empower your own health and well-being. Especially now, at this moment in history, having concrete information on how to support our health is paramount. My deep gratitude to both Miriam and Tenzin for this amazing book!If you like this book, I also recommend “Karma & Happiness: A Tibetan Odyssey in Ethics, Spirituality, & Healing” by Miriam E. Cameron. I have also written a review for that book. Both books are exceptional!

Learn to be happy and avoid suffering.
I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in pursuing a healthier, calmer, more meaningful and more joyful life. The authors have thoroughly explained the complexity and depth of Tibetan Medicine, both as a science and a spiritual tradition, making it understandable and relevant to the present day. Especially welcome are the meditations at the end of each chapter which make it possible to put this ancient system to immediate use.

Interesting and Insightful Immersion into Integrated Practice
This is an excellent book for both practitioners and the general public who want to better understand how the implementation of Tibetan Medicine into one’s life is beneficial and life changing. Clearly written, easily followed, and full of concise and useful information, it is an asset to any person who wants to obtain a more fulfilled, balanced and healthy self. Dr. Cameron and Dr. Namdul each provide insightful, thorough and practical ways of incorporating these concepts and applications into either one’s work or personal life as well as the immense benefit in creating a ‘both/and’ instead of an ‘either/or’ with the integration of western medicine and Tibetan medicine. They present a multifaceted framework in examining how to live in harmony with one’s constitution as well as a poignant reflection on creating a ‘good death’. As a clinician who has practiced for over twenty years in mental health, I believe the teachings from this book will be extremely valuable to clients in terms of them gaining holistic, non-pathologizing insight into their constitution and ways to treat this to enhance body, mind and spirit throughout the course of their lives. As the need for and appreciation of integrated medicine continues to emerge, this book is a fundamental staple in deepening our understanding of how to approach and embrace this union with intention, grace and compassion for both ourselves and the lives we touch.

Great tool for selfcare and integrative healing inside out.
This book by Drs. Cameron and Namdul has become my personal tool for self care and integrative healing both personally and professionally. The book provided me with a unique lens to view health and wellness through a perspective of Tibetan medicine, a practice that is ancient yet relevant in today's healthcare that is in acute need of comprehensive holistic healing. It provides insight into oneself through understanding the basic constituents and an opportunity to heal mind, body and spirit in a simple yet rigorous format that could be comprehended by novice minds. I am particularly intrigued by chapter 9, "Creating a Good death," first as a Tibetan Buddhist practitioner and then as an oncology nurse. I am hopeful that I would be able to apply these practices in comforting the lives of my patients by enabling them to see death with grace rather than fear and anxiety. And of course, this is also a learning experience for me too. I look forward to reading your next book!Thank you.Diki Diki RN, BSN, PHN.

A must-have book if you want to care for your health
There are many health modalities out there. Tibetan Medicine, is full of health wisdom to stay balanced, and whole. The difference between Tibetan Medicine and other health trends is it is all about finding your imbalances, which lead to health issues, and living in harmony with your unique make-up. In today's world we have so many compromised immune systems, either over-active or under-active. This book, clear to read, and chalked full of information, is a must-have to understand your individual body and it's needs. It shows us that there is not one size fits all cure to health, it is individualized in such a way that the many health diets we put ourselves on to heal our bodies might not be what our specific body needs. Great read, great wisdom!

A book rich in content and accessibility
In my personal life, I have been searching for solutions for loved ones dealing with addiction, depression or autoimmune issues. Additionally, in my professional life, I have sensed that there is a greater context in which we need to be teaching contemporary mindfulness in order to better support our clients. I found a resource for both in this book. It is rich with information, yet partitioned to be accessible for a variety of audiences and purposes.
