Why does a box of cake mix cost $12.45?? This has to be the most expensive cake I’ve ever seen

That's a good question and here is the breakdown. The cost of the item is $5.99, Amazon charges approx. $3.30 to sell it on their site and shipping (at a discount) costs us 7.55 for a total of $16.64, this doesn't include the cost of help, packaging or overhead. If you are able to purchase it locally, that is the way to go, if not12.45 is about as low as you'll ever see this particular type of cake. Based on your question, there are other types of cake that may be better suited to what you are looking for than this one. Mahalo for asking!

Can someone please tell me if this dessert is chewy like a brownie, or is it chewy and *slimy* like the mochi ice cream texture? :{

Not like a brownie. However if you are a texture eater and you don’t like the feel of the rice texture then you may not like it. I happen to love mochi and love this product. Just a little expensive.

I can’t figure out if this is gluten free. Anyone know?

The first ingredient listed on the back is Sweet Rice Flour. That is the only flour listed.

Easy, delicious, and comparable to scratch or trader Joe's box

This is delicious and easy to make! I've baked this from scratch, I also love the trader Joe's version but that requires going there (I have chronic pain so going places is hard a lot of the times) so this is my personal favorite! It's extremely easy to bake (even with pain or depression) and I like to use those foil disposable pans to make it all easier (again, chronic pain foodie).

Unique cake mix

These were so easy to make! I am sensitive to sweets and fresh out of the oven it was extremely sweet. I liked it much better when I ate some cold this morning. My mom wasn't sure she would like the texture but she loved them and ate almost a whole pan. It is a bit expensive for a mix but I think they are great as a treat.
