An excellent book with one flaw
If you've read the description and think this is the kind of book for you, you're not going to be disappointed. The photography is top notch, the models attractive, and the book itself is well put together. I particularly like that all of the photographs are full-page images, without a lot of added commentary or text along the sides. And it's a very attractive oversized hardcover that will please anyone who appreciates not only the content of books, but books themselves as physical objects. There is, however, a single flaw that I found a bit disappointing. Several (not many, but several) of the photographs are presented as two-page images. While I appreciate the extra size, I felt like too much of those photographs got lost where the page meets the binding, and I would have preferred to see those images either reduced to fit a single page or presented as fold-out pages instead.Don't be put off by that one issue, though. On the whole, this is a worthy book to add to your collection.

Disappointingly Repetitive
I really wanted to like this book.In fact, I really want to like EVERY book I lay out hard earned cash to purchase.Sadly, though, this book is just simply... lacking... in interesting content. How in the world could a book full of nude women, adorned with black-metal inspired corpse-paint NOT be interesting, you may well wonder. Therein lies the key to my disappointment - the lovely and enchanting models that comprise the photographic grist for 'Daughters Of Darkness' are all beauties, and the addition of 'scary' black slashes of makeup that adorn their faces (and at times further) should hold one's attention, allowing the viewer to take in the gorgeousity of feminine flesh juxtaposed with vampiric poses, arched backs, fingers extended to assume the threat of lycanthropic claws and zombified, blackened eyes, the protruding fangs thirsting for blood, and - of course - the reason we all came here to start - the long-limbed, soft-skinned, pale-to-the-point of translucence NUDITY that sets this entire volume aflame. Or ought to spark up one's salacious attention enough to linger on each image as though perusing a forbidden and obscure occult relic. But something goes awry. Something gets lost in translation from form and light and shadow to the viewer's libido. Firstly (and this breaks my heart to say), the models just tend to... blend into the same vague attitudes, positions, and poses. This is in NO WAY the fault of the delightful ghouls who took the chance to apply - in many cases - their OWN concept of Black Metal Corpsepaint; rather, the blame rests firmly in the lack of visions, interpretations, ideas and interpretive abstractions. Good grief, man, you've got 50+ stunning models, willing to strip naked and play Monster, and this is the best you can come up with? I don't want to be too harsh towards the photographer (one Jeremy Saffer), but I was well disappointed and actually ended up FLIPPING THROUGH THE LAST TWO-THIRDS OF THIS BOOK! And let me also mention that the book itself, as a package, is a high-class, extremely well-assembled and printed work of art. I can imagine several hundred photographs and photographers who could have made use of all these PERFECT CHANCES to create something absolutely stunning, erotic, frightening, haunting, and frigging MEMORABLE that folks would return to time and again to study the graceful lines and lighting and settings... this could have been an absolute collectable dream.I am sorry to say, this is a swing and a miss... shame, as the models and the materials offered up to you could have been put to so much better use. The whole effort is quite saddening.

METAL ESTROGEN
This book is awesome in every way possible! As a fan of heavy metal music; including black metal, I knew I had to get this. Let me tell you that It doesn't disappoint. The women are mesmerizingly beautiful and the photography is very raw with no unnecessary editing or polishing. As a photographer myself I give this book an A+++

Good book for the price and size
As a black metal fan, It's a good book. Very large book and the price was right. Lacks diversity among the models and wish there were props in some shots (upside crosses, fake blood, satanic jewelry etc.) because the pages get repetitive after a while. I also thought more exterior/outside shots would have helped as well. However, it was done well and some of the corpse paint applications were done perfectly. I'm being generous with 4 stars because I think 3 is too low. It's more 3.5 simply over the large lack in diversity and some repetitiveness.

Excellent quality and a unique concept
Artful, erotic, and made with quality. This collection of photographs takes a fascinating and unique approach to artful nude photography utilizing corpse paint as the central aesthetic. High resolution images, beautiful lighting, and outstanding models representing a variety of female form and bringing to life the artful vision of the photographer - his passion for the aesthetics of metal are clear and as Lamb of God vocalist Randy Blythe says in the forward, this is more than just a collection of "naked heavy metal chicks" this is a fascinatingly well done work of art.

Beautiful photos of women in corpse-paint.
A beautiful and well assembled book of women in corpse-paint. If you are a follower of Black Metal, or know someone that is, this book would make a wonderful purchase. And while it is a book of nude women, it’s neither tacky nor offensive. My only issue? The book was damaged when delivered (a rip in the cover and the upper corner was bent badly). Other than that: recommended for lovers of Metal, art and photography.

A beautiful collection of alt models ..Great job by photographer ..
Huge fan of Black/Death/Doom metal and the female form ...Book is presented in excellent condition and the models are stunning ..That being said some of the corpse paint is a little lacking wish they tried harder ...Also some bigger models would've been a bonus...All in all a beautiful book ..Worth the money ..Suprised how big it is ..

So good!
This is such a beautiful masterpiece put together by one of the best photographers in the metal / horror industry. I love the concept just as much as I love how he's captured the raw elegance of each and every one of his subjects.
