Penn & Teller - Bullsh*t - The Complete Third Season

There isn't enough tinfoil nor lithium for all the nut cases in the world.
I was tempted to give this episode four stars, but it is geared for the casual viewer, and bringing in a lot of neuro-psychologists to help explain how the human mind processes information and formulates absolute nonsense to create, as per the doctor's commentary, sense of their lives, would be a little complicated for the target demographic. The thing that really angered me about this episode was the moon conspirator. I worked in the motion picture and video industry for ten years, and specifically I was a special effects assistant and a stage manager, and dealt with prop masters, directors, producers, actors, set decorators, DPs, actors and the like, and to see and hear this asinine jerk try to dismiss one of the greatest technological achievements of our time, from the greatest country this planet has ever seen (I was a former aerospace engineer at one time, as well as an amateur astronomer and science fiction enthusiast), angers me to the core.Fortunately Penn and Teller are still active in the industry and expose this nut case for the lunatic that he is.Ditto with the JKF assassination, and with the 9/11 conspiracy nut cases. Just why, oh why, do we have people who are unable to digest information properly, and who come up with the most outrageous and asinine conjectures anyone has ever conjured? Again, to explain that the show needs more scientists to explain the human brain and the algorithms we use in our everyday to live and interact with our surroundings and fellow man.Still, this episode does expose the absolute frauds and crazy individuals that these people are, as well as the completely idiotic and inane theories they conjure.Enjoy.

A teaching manual for constructive thinking skills...
I've read some of the other product reviews claiming that this season was a disappointment, and I'm afraid I have to disagree. Penn and Teller did seem to take a temporary step back from the truly devisive issues, but every episode is still insightful, funny, and fascinating. Yes, even that one on hair (I mean, did anyone else actually WATCH that? There was some pretty horrifying footage. If you've never seen someone get a Brazilian wax before, this is a real "eye" opener. Ick!)I don't always agree with Penn and Teller--I've read plenty of critisism of their techniques--and they do seem to interview a lot of people from the loonatic fringe to help them make their point; but they are always articulate, and even when I strongly disagree, I still enjoy their point of view and I appreciate their endorsement of independent thought. There aren't enough of us out there willing to questions what we see on TV or read in the paper. Sometimes it's painfully disillusioning to know that recycling isn't the environmental salvation I thought it was, or that the only thing protecting us from Big Brother is our innate human incompetence. But I'm glad I made this purchase. It was worth every penny.Oh, and this is something that irritated me when I was looking to buy this series on Amazon: I couldn't find an episode list for the season, so I'm including one in my review.Disc 1:CircumcisionFamily ValuesConspiracy TheoriesLife CoachingDisc 2:Holier Than ThouCollegeBig BrotherHairDisc 3:Gun ControlGhostbustersEngangered SpeciesSigns from HeavenThe Best...

The entire series is a must see show.
Season 3 is where Penn & Teller start to add some 'filler' topics to give them a full season's worth of shows. The topics like "Ghostbusters" being frauds isn't exactly a big reveal to anyone. Then there is the episode on Life Coaching, which isn't exactly a thing normal people run into on a daily basis. But still, they manage to make it entertaining and make the people who engage in this stuff look dumb. So success! The heart and soul of season 3 are the episodes on Conspiracy Theories and Gun Control. The Conspiracy Theory episode takes a bunch of 9/11 Truthers and lets them rant and rave about how they know more than the rest of the world. Penn & Teller don't really have to make them look stupid because they do a fine job of it all on their own. But they do a great job of having other people explain why conspiracy theorists thrive. The Gun Control episode is just epic. Penn & Teller are pretty strong supporters of the 2nd Amendment. It's an issue that's personally dear to them. So they do this episode with a little extra passion. The result is great television.

Educational as well as funny....
I know it sounds crazy, but in have learned a lot watching Penn & Tellers show Bullsh*t.The third season debunks myths and half truths about certain aspects of life that we take for granted. This show is absolutely hilarious and I love it, although I do not agree with some of their political views. However, they insult every group their is, so I don't take it personal. :)Here is an episode list for the 3 disks:Disk 1:- Circumcision- Family Values- Conspiacy Theories- Life CoachingDisk 2:- Holier Than Thou- College- Big Brother- HairDisc 3:- Gun Control- Ghostbusters- Endangered Species- Signs from Heavan- The Best...However, be warned that there are innuendos, lots of foul language and all sorts of not politically correct goings on.

Very Entertaining BS!
My husband & I have been watching the Penn & Teller BS series over the past few weeks. These shows are typically very well done using good & believable examples to support why items are BS - at least from their perspective. We have not disagreed with many of their findings and have enjoyed watching the proponents of whatever is BS for that show being figuratively ripped to shreds! It is an entertainment-based show so there are a lot of theatrics as well! There is quite a bit of bad language - as one could probably guess from the name of the show :) - so be careful about watching this around children or those sensitive to the use of cuss words.
