I chose a hand-held manually-operated bristle brush because I wanted to reduce waste from disposable brush heads and batteries or electricity plus save a lot of money by doing a little work myself. It does spatter a bit, so I bring it right into the shower with a pump of favorite drugstore brand pore minimizing facial cleanser, brush gently all over face (avoiding eyes) and neck in small circles, and rinse well. Since it isn't designed to stand on its own handle, I hang dry from an s-hook on the sliding shower door towel bar, then store capped under the sink. I hope and expect that it will last for years. It looks like it will have a longer life than some of the other manual brushes I found.The handle makes it easy to grip. The bristles are not super soft to where they just smash down but they are also not super stiff to where they rub your skin raw. I love that it is manual so that I can control the amount of exfoliation on my face. The purple massaging pad is an added benefit.
